of course an ICE agent shooting a woman didn't "take the bait", that's a tragedy we have to Wait For The System to handle. did you hear someone broke a window? Scandalous.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey says 29 people were arrested in downtown last night during a noise demonstration at a hotel reportedly housing ICE agents: "For those that are taking the bait and causing property damage or otherwise, there are consequences. We're holding the line here all the way."

Domestically the US government is trying to undo the peace settlement from the Civil War, abroad they're trying to undo the peace settlement from World War II
I don't think it's a coincidence that all of this (worldwide) is happening when most of the people who lived through WWII have just died. We need to do a better job of keeping their memories and ideals alive.

This guy is in Minneapolis standing before an American citizen in an SUV.

The only reason he's brandishing an assault rifle is because he wants the people he's purportedly there protecting to feel terrorized by his presence.

This is not protection. This is occupation.

This is from months ago and nothing is changing and the fundamental problem is clear from watching any state or local elected official at a press conference after the cops fuck up: they are scared shitless of the police they are nominally in charge of.
A lot of blue mayors and governors know the "don't give an order you don't expect to be obeyed" leadership maxim but interpret it as "I guess I can't order the cops to do anything" rather than as a crisis of insubordination.
One thing I have not seen much grappling with: the Trump Administration has acted illegally with respect to the National Guard & Marines in LA plus the whole parade nonsense is a federal show of power, but cops ostensibly controlled by local governments in blue cities attacked protestors yesterday.

If you're not willing to arrest the killer, don't arrest the demonstrators.

I was just denied access to the ICE processing center at the Whipple Building.

Members of Congress have a legal right and constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight where people are being detained.

The public deserves to know what is taking place in ICE facilities.
JUST NOW: Huge mass of agents in a standoff, weapons drawn as Reps. Ilhan Omar, Angie Craig, and Kelly Morrison attempt to conduct congressional oversight at the Whipple Building, which has been HQ for thousands of ICE agents.

It’s all fucking fascist Rumpelstiltskin. “Sorry you didn’t guess the magic word!” “Oh you did? Well it just changed.”
The specific arguments are always besides the point. If it wasn’t this excuse it would be some other nonsense about fraud and if it wasn’t that, it’d be something about needing a special warrant.

It never matters.
In the lawsuit requiring ICE to provide access, the Trump admin made rumbles about raising this argument. Looks like they’re leaning in. I find it very difficult to believe that they have perfectly avoided commingling funds in the custody operations account.

It’s beyond insane that our overarching internal security agency has spent months tweeting barely-coded messages of support for neo-Nazi groups and the entire media apparatus looks at it and says “That’s odd but certainly not part a major story that is relevant to current events, I’m sure”

I love being a hard ass. Me and buddies get to have all the weapons and surveillance equipment and you get none. We can beat you or kill you or shoot you with gas as much as we want. And if you so much as push us we'll charge you with assaulting an officer and send you to prison for 10 years.

Who is this guy? He just threatened to murder a woman on camera. He should be arrested by local authorities for menacing.
A woman recording an ICE agent tells him "Shame on you."

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Then he knocks her phone out of her hand

I don't credit the modern American executive with the ability to think beyond the end of the current fiscal quarter, but if they could, I would think they'd be looking out right now and wondering what the cost/benefits of collaboration with Trump is going to look like in two, three, five years

And that’s why I’m voting to confirm more of Donald Trump’s nominees to the federal bench 🤷‍♂️
Amy Klobuchar: "There are now more ICE agents in Minnesota than there are police officers combined in Minneapolis and St. Paul. So they are outnumbering our own local police officers out on the streets."

Those of you who still insist on drawing a distinction between ICE and police should be aware that the police are not drawing that distinction.
Thank you for telling us you neither serve nor protect. Thank you for saying the quiet part out loud. That was state murder in broad daylight, captured from multiple angles by multiple witnesses, and the people of Minneapolis have eyes.

You support murder.

Summoning the oil companies to your giant ballroom is classic populism
REPORTER: The Capital Planning Commission is concerned the 89,000 square foot ballroom is going to dwarf the rest of the rest of the WH. Do you worry about that?

TRUMP: No no. People love the ballroom. We need it. If we would've had the ballroom today, we could've had all the oil companies there.

Begging credit card companies to play nice is a joke.

I said a year ago if Trump was serious I’d work to pass a bill to cap rates. Since then, he’s done nothing but try to shut down the CFPB.

Trump doesn’t care about affordability. Americans know a fraud when they see one.

It is deeply counter to the whole very basic concept of this nation that its citizens can be taxed and then have funding withheld punitively because the person exercising the power of the presidency decides on a whim to do so.
at some point we're gonna have to have a real conversation about why we're still paying federal taxes to a regime that isn't using them to help anyone, but instead is using them to brutalize us
