Why do the fascists want to keep you hooked on fossil fuels? Because it keeps them in power. If you don't need their fossil fuels, they lose a lot of that power. True for Putin, Trump and the Princes.

The smartest national security move now is to switch to renewables and electric transportation.
Cubans turn to electric vehicles as US tightens oil blockade
HAVANA, Feb 13 () - The rumble of 1959 Chevrolets, once the rhythmic heartbeat of Havana, is fading to ‌the near silence of electric vehicles as the island ‌faces its worst fuel shortage in years. For...

I'm trying my hardest and not doing badly. It's also making me think about if I really need things or not when I can't find things elsewhere easily enough.

I'm a big fan of World of Books. They are signed up to the second hand book royalty scheme which is ace. 😊

Just ordered a book from my local Waterstones. Click and collect so I’ll get it on way home tonight. As cheap as Amazon. Also bought an instant camera earlier this week from Argos, cheaper than on Amazon. It’s proving very easy not to use the evil billionaire’s website. More of you should try it.

I have used Amazon once in the last 5 years or so and maybe 3x in the several years before that. And I plan never to again. It's doable! I recommend it!

I agree that boycotting Amazon is a good thing and is satisfying. I wish there was also way to boycott Amazon Web Services, but that seems to undergird a lot of the internet

How Hitler seized power:

— Demonize opponents.
— Create crises.
— Weaken the press.
— Declare a state of emergency.
— Undermine elections.
— Make the rule of law irrelevant.
— Rule by executive order.

If the U.S. falls, it will be because of those who sat on their hands.

For fucks sake, they're not even supposed to kill murderers in the street, they're supposed to arrest them and put them through a trial.

Because we have a Constitution that was written with the intention of preventing exactly what is happening right now.

Ukraine has signalled again and again it would agree to a meaningful peace proposal – even one that involved freezing frontlines where they are, at least de facto.

This “peace plan” is an attempt by Russia to get Trump to gift them Ukrainian land they failed to take by force.

The problem after 14 years of damage wreaked by the Tories is that we now have a f***ed up BBC and a f***ed up NHS.

But, remember, the f***ing up has come from outside. It is not intrinsic

We desperately need a properly functioning BBC and properly functioning NHS

DEFEND THEM!

I will never understand for the life of me why people don't do nuance.

Hamas are horrendous; the IDF are also horrendous.

Religious people by and large are lovely and peaceful; theocracies are terrifying.

Labour are quite bad; Reform would be far worse.

It is possible for two things to be true.
