As always, it's appalling at the same time it's so cheap, tawdry, and embarrassing. What a pathetic, shabby little gangster.
Trump on Mamdani: "He should be very nice to me. He's off to a bad start. I think it's a very dangerous statement for him to make."

I love that Zohran did not praise Cuomo in his speech. You absolutely do not have to say nice things about bad people. We should normalize that in “polite” politics: Praising bad people is not actually “civility.”

Quit fishing for praise Jamelle you know all these dunks are implicitly “except Jamelle et al”
*whispers* you can continue to read me, the pundit who insisted the other pundits were wrong about these conclusions
basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

This NYT story about how Mamdani dealt with the opposition by the city's elites fails to mention one particular elite institution: The NYT editorial page, which last June railed against him as "uniquely unsuited to the city’s challenges... lacks political savvy"

Well, to be fair, Curtis has run like 900 times and is used to making that call.
Zohran Mamdani says on NY1 he didn't get a congratulatory call from either Andrew Cuomo or Eric Adams last night.

He says he got a congratulatory call from Curtis Sliwa, though.

I don’t actually understand what Lina Khan has to do with anything. She’s been doing only antitrust stuff for years which is completely irrelevant to NYC. Strange choice.
bit torn on this because lina khan drives techbros up the wall (laudatory) but was pretty useless at her job, albeit at an agency that is mostly dogshit
TRANSITION CO-CHAIR LINA KHAN!?!?!??!

Republicans thought they had a permanent hold over young men. They didn't.

Spanberger wins men 18-29 by 14%, Sherrill by 10%, and Mamdani by a stunning 40%.

on top of the actual election wins, I think tonight is great because so many people needed the boost. every day since January 20 has been a fucking horror show in one way or another if you're online and paying attention, and everyone was in need of this injection of energy and hope.

I don't know what will happen in NYC tonight, but I do know that regardless of outcome, any number of public figures, celebrities, politicians and institutions that oppose Mamdani have done so with a level of rhetorical ugliness, racism, and dishonesty that should neither be forgotten nor forgiven.

There is a hilarious scene in Manhattan where Woody Allen discovers this sexual dynamo Diane Keaton said “really opened me up sexually” turns out to be Wally Shawn.

“I know, but … you know, this little homunculus?
On the other site, an 18-year-old Zohran canvasser described the legendary Wallace Shawn as "the actor who plays Dr. Sturgis on Young Sheldon" which is honestly adorable

A thing people (not him) who just love repeating things about hallucinations and errors should probably take more time to seriously consider is how many pure mathematicians — where there is no room for error — are interested in and using these tools. It’s not a clear cut thing that’s going on here.
I'm anti-anti-anti AI I think. It probably could be used in responsible ways for many applications, but it's appropriate that it face stiff headwinds when doing so to keep the people who want to use it honest. The skepticism is healthy.

This is insane
New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

This is a concession statement you make when the other guy beats you, not an endorsement.
Boom: Hakeem Jeffries endorses Zohran Mamdani. About damn time.

Yeah. I felt like this with a lot of the campus protest coverage in the news. You would not even notice a thing if these people didn’t gin it up.
I was in Portland a week ago and there’s just literally nothing happening. It’s not a matter of opinion, it’s not a perspective thing, it’s reality versus a world Trump is inventing in his head so he can seize dictatorial authority
Trump: "I look the other night, Saturday night, Portland is burning to the ground and these people are saying it's just friendly stuff. The whole place is burning to the ground. So we'll take care of that one. That's like an insurrection more than it is anything else. Portland is crazy."

I don’t understand what they think they’re doing. The election is about to happen. You have to make a decision here now. I mean I understand why it’s happening but this isn’t tenable. Is he just not going to vote as an elected?
Daniel Goldman went onto CNN earlier *TODAY* and said

1) He isn't sure if he'll vote for Andrew Cuomo
2) And that he won't endorse Mamdani because Mamdnai has not done enough condemnations of anti-Israel violence

Everything about this is funny. Mixing up South and Southeast Asia on Diwali while running against an Indian guy. What are you *doing*
It’s wild to see how little Cuomo actually wants to win.
Anand Giridharadas to Andrew Cuomo: "First of all, governor, it's 'Mamdani.' This is a very big, diverse city you want to lead. We should get the names right."
