Greg Bovino may have moved on to Charlotte, but federal immigration agents maintain a presence in the Chicago area.

Northwest Side Rapid Response has confirmed agents detained at least one person around 9:45 this morning off Kedzie and Wabansia.

Email just went out on my campus that the Immigration Goons ("federal immigration agents") will be in town (Raleigh).

Inter alia, it says,"International students, faculty and staff should carry evidence of their immigration status with them at all times."

The fuck kind of country are we living in?

The chains are hoping the drink can drum up excitement from customers this holiday season.

At a recent budget proposal town hall, the mayor said that the spending next year is to settle these past police misconduct suits, rather than dragging them out. So, this would be an extraordinary expense, so long as the level and seriousness of police misconduct goes down.
This is clearly bad; however, if you want a small bit of light, Chicago is probably the most transparent city in the US on this. Every city has police lawsuits. The difference is that they usually hide the cost of them from taxpayers.
NEW: Chicago must borrow $283.3M to cover the soaring cost of lawsuits alleging CPD officers committed a wide range of misconduct as part of the city’s 2026 budget, Mayor Brandon Johnson said, calling the move "prudent." @wttw.bsky.social

Also, I went to Broadview because that's where they take my neighbors after they abduct them in Uptown. So maybe the Broadview mayor should think about why they're okay with letting an illegal prison, where ICE abuses my neighbors, operate in their town.

Members of what appears to be the Cook County Sheriff’s SWAT team are here now.

The vibe is pretty chill. Maybe 150 protesters singing on a beautiful 60° fall day after our snow on Monday.

Adding to the scope of blatant 5 ILCS 805/15 violations.
another law enforcement agency i haven’t seen here before.

the illinois law enforcement alarm system is a statewide “mutual aid” system for police to share resources (similar to nipas). these are likely police from other local departments.

crowd is slowly dwindling. maybe half what it was.

at one point, i watched a cook county sheriff’s officer (who appears to be in charge) point out a priest in the crowd.

he and a couple officers then went into the crowd , dragged him into the street, and arrested him.

situation is still tense as crowd jostles with police to get into the street.

I think this does include white cis gay men, (like myself). There should be models for what it means to find redemption through one's actions for people who have harmed others and the community at large. I expect that almost never would those actions be public, and never during a political campaign.
Be honest. You don't mean *all* men do you? Black men, gay men, trans men?
In order to move men, we have to welcome folks who have done things in the past we abhor. We have to allow folks to redeem themselves.

It’s sometimes uncomfortable, but it’s the only way we can win moving forward.

The math doesn’t math without more men.

If you haven’t seen it, this is the video.

It’s a serious problem that our government can respond to this video and claim that we didn’t see what we all saw.

Two months ago, before Bovino arrived and the Broadview ICE facility was transformed into an impenetrable fortress, regular people were out there every single day for weeks telling feds to get out. We think about this day a lot.
Since we've been out here observing, this small and growing group of neighbors (no organized protest planned today) have been repeatedly facing off with agents.
