Look if you can just get past my unbelievably fidgety onscreen presence, Pat Younge is very good on how the BBC could not only survive but emerge stronger in the full interview
🎥: ‘The BBC mustn’t pay Trump a dime’, says former BBC executive Pat Younge.

He joined @arusbridger.bsky.social and @janinegibson.ft.com on Media Confidential to discuss the Panorama debacle.

As someone who has served the BBC for over 38 years and leaves v soon, I can’t quite yet express a view on the current situation at the BBC. This is a top listen with great insight from all including former BBC exec Pat Younge

At risk of sounding desperate (also, WHY ARE ALL THE JOURNOS STILL ON X) - if you're a TV / history writer or podcaster and fancy doing something on Season II of #AThousandBlows and the true history of 1880s boxing and boxers, get in touch. Disney PR aren't likely to put me forward for things again.
'New Threats. New Era. New Season.'

(New Poster)

Season II of A Thousand Blows streams 9 Jan 2026.

The completely unaffiliated, unconnected, in no way endorsed by Disney, book with the true stories of Hezekiah Moscow, Alec Munroe, Sugar Goodson - THE DEVIL'S DANCEFLOOR - is published in Oct 😅👊🏻

Nowhere in the hysterical pile-on against the BBC in the British press has anyone mentioned that BBC News now has 77 million viewers & listeners in the US and has established itself as the second most trusted news source there.

BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM. A lovely 7 mile circuit in The Cheviots with @wendypilmer.bsky.social We didn’t see another soul with just birdsong and occasional artillery fire from the neighbouring Otterburn Ranges for company. What might two old BBC hands have chatted about on this autumnal day?

Great series. And Peck so good.
Extraordinarily, he agreed to narrarte the first comedy pilot I ever made. The cast and I walked down the corridor of BH with him, in total awe. He said, in passing that he’d just got back from LA having made a film called Jurassic Park. “Don’t know if it’s any good”
Great news - one of the best mini-series ever with a dazzling & eccentric screenplay by Troy Kennedy Martin & superb direction by Martin Campbell is back on iplayer.
If you haven’t seen it then you’re in for a real treat.
Come for Bob Peck, stay for Joe Don Baker.

I’d been hearing about so many issues/cock-up/mistakes on this very specific licensing issue in Southwark that I’d been trying to find a way into the story for the last few weeks. Guess the chancellor has given me the top line…
Reeves let out a home in a selective licensing area (all rented properties in that area must be licensed) without a licence. Blames letting agent (depending on contract, she may have a point), but an up to £30,000 civil penalty & a potential rent repayment order.

Meanwhile, if you see a clip of me saying the ID card contract has gone to Tony Blair’s son: it hasn’t. That was something I was given to ask about on HIGNFY last night, but turns out to be a false report from the internet. Which is bad news for the fact checkers but good news for social mobility.
