It's been nearly seven years since I first started researching and sharing Hezekiah Moscow's story on my blog. Now just over a year until my book is published. Back to writing tonight! If you enjoy/ed #AThousandBlows, please buy THE DEVIL'S DANCE FLOOR next year, eh 🥊✌🏻

I do genuinely quite like Clacton, yes. But it's also a case of the trains being too expensive for me to leave as often as I'd like 😒

I live, work, eat, sleep etc at my home in Clacton and work for an All Party Parliamentary Group in Westminster on occasion. I've been to both more often than Farage has. Hiya, @zackpolanski.bsky.social - Can we have a chat? Not about wrestling, but open to that too 💚🤷🏻‍♀️🙌🏻 #CoxforClacton
Given how much Nigel Farage hates working from home, it would be nice to see him turn up at his workplace a bit more regularly

When I die, if I've contributed anything to British boxing history, other than the whole Loads of Black Caribbean and American 1880s Lads Here Being Amazing thing, I hope it goes down as: one eyed and one footed fellas boxing EVERYWHERE?!
This lad is only notorious!

Note the strange positioning of the dash. Notorious one foot-boxer. Not one-foot boxer? The mind boggles.

My bloke's new BFI-funded short drama Smooth The Edges should be heading to short film festivals later this year! I am very proud. It stars, and was written, directed, and produced by British Romani actors and filmmakers:

In my day jobs I've spent 16 years pitching and overseeing photo shoots, video, radio... media opportunities for other researchers. Today I booked a day off so a photographer who has taken pictures of JON BON JOVI (he's small, I thought so!) could shoot me. For a big magazine. Feel weird. Bit shaky.
Ooh what a morning!

In a relevant historical pub with my imaginary history bf. Sorry, I mean, my serious research subject.

Named her tumour Farage.

Perfect. Perfect perfect 💚
On this day 10 years ago, I had my last dose of chemo and radiotherapy, I had a new baby at the time, I named my tumour Farage and I blogged about it my experience. I got into politics because of the power of hope and love and community. I know... hippy. shinyshep.wordpress.com/2016/02/10/d...
Do you realise?
Hello, I’ve dropped some morphine so not sure how long til I drift into rambling incoherence or sleep but it’s the end of a chapter. The title of this relates to my favourite Flaming Li…

NGL, Neil Buchanan selling the concept of Art Attack for a Bond villain amount of money then just going on tour playing guitar in his metal band as he never has to work another day in his life is the most relatable thing any celebrity has ever done. Absolute king shit. 👑
As a British child of the early '90s I shouldn't rightfully feel this joyful so soon after losing John Virgo. But, uh, let it be known that Müller Corner yoghurts have got out Neil Buchanan for a Big Art Attack 🙌🏻🖌️

As an aside, my mother has just told me that the coat I was planning to wear 'could look bulky' and my face is improved when I have a fringe. Incredible.
Getting my photo taken in London tomorrow for something (terrified). Was scrolling the commissioned photographer's portfolio. Two and a half years ago he took some portraits of people in Clacton. My block of flats is the background for one! There are nearly 70 million people in the UK. HOW?! 😂

If you haven't seen A Thousand Blows, highly recommend it. From the creator of Peaky Blinders & House of Guinness. It gives a dramatic look at the real boxer, Hezekiah Moscow, brilliantly portrayed by Malachi Kirby. Erin Doherty is fantastic as the queen of real life female gang, the 40 Elephants.

Not at all surprised to learn that Bad Bunny has a historical adviser. His halftime show was a reminder that our history and culture are deeply intertwined with the rest of the western hemisphere. We should think of his performance as part of #America250. #SuperBowl

Pop star Bad Bunny needed a Puerto Rican history scholar. UW–Madison had just the one.
Bad Bunny collaborated with UW–Madison history professor Jorell Meléndez-Badillo on Puerto Rican narratives that accompany the new album “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.”

I don't live in London and can rarely afford or fit in time to go out doing nice things there BUT this whole season looks amazing. Tickets on sale to the general public from 12 March:

In contrast, Clacton Cinema has films about a goat, a primate, and a kangaroo 🐐🐒🦘🤷🏻‍♀️😂
The Cinematic Life of Boxing season announced for BFI Southbank
Our celebration of boxing on screen include three Best Picture winners, one Best Documentary winner, and former world champion boxers on stage.

Another reason to loath AI.
A man, and evidently sick bastard, called Russell Edwards (Jack the Ripper Experience on FB, well known in press for nonsense identity takes) has used the post-mortem photo of Elizabeth Stride and AI-d it to make her look alive and talking. Too much, too far. What on EARTH is going through his head?

This is a fantastic story! I initially clicked on it to find out if she married two different forgers or the same forger twice. You should do the same!

Also, try reading "Come along h’Isabella, H’under me h’umbrella" without singing it out loud in a Cockney accent...

If I had my own way, the front cover of my book would basically be a rip off of this 🤤 Hey, there's always the next one...

'Jake Kilrain's Life and Battles' by William Edgar Harding, 1888, published by newspaper proprietor Richard K. Fox (Kilrain's backer in his 1887 title fight with Jem Smith).

You'd think at the very least they'd provide free transport from Southend to Colchester for those students left stranded by the closure. But no. It makes me angry that my home town lost a brilliant polytechnic and art college, as well as a very fine library and adult education provision for... this.

University of Essex putting up a big new billboard in Clacton ('Your Local University') to attract students after closing their Southend campus, ruining young Southenders' plans, and putting 400 staff up for redundancy seems like a bit of a poor taste pisstake somehow, I don't know.
