The two most valuable things I learned from this book were 1. the cloth workers affected by industrialization used machines in their own small shops, and 2. factory owners learned they could not replace labor with machines, because the machines needed constant skilled maintenance to work at all.

Media piracy is cool and you should do it.

Companies reap the majority of profits for CEOs while the actual creators make butt.

Success and failure have an equal chance of lay offs and general fucking over of artists.

All the companies are funding genocide with your money.

Steal.

A recent Genshin Impact update reveals yet another striking actor has been recast.

Here is the apathy it receives in response.

Shame on anyone who thinks the strike would ever “become an invalid reason” in this context.

These people are fighting for AI protections.

Support them.

Free Speech is Bigger than Trump and Zuck
You’ve probably read plenty of hot takes about last weeks’ changes to Meta’s content moderation policies, how Zuck is bending the knee to Trump, and what this means for free speech. The signal is getting lost in the noise: Big Tech platforms, and their monopolistic, surveillance-based business models,

Heads-up
The famous green owl app Duolingo is going even harder into AI made by stolen content. It's not curated by native speakers so you have no idea if what you're learning is correct. Their algorithm overall tries to hit the happy brain juices instead of helping you learn. So here are some alternatives!

Maybe Gen Alpha isn't as fucked as we thought them to be
Don't think there is a better illustration of AI-in-everything-whether-we-want-it-or-not than an AI bro buying an AI toy for his child who played with it for a bit and then seemed singularly unimpressed with the AI and turned it off.
He keeps turning it back on, and she keeps turning it off.

You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.
