One of the most miserable things about living in this era is having to watch the stupidest & most arrogant people in the world have to relearn The Why of literally everything good that we collectively do the hard way.

The answer is always ‘Because a bunch of people died, fuckwit.’

Local racists may think diseases are confined to detainees, but concentration camps are perfect environments for spreading a mixed stew of infections — including to guards and staff who then spread the germs to the surrounding communities. Yet another reason to close the camps.
Tuberculosis is flourishing in ICE prisons across the country, including in the Anchorage Correctional Complex, Adelanto ICE Processing Center, Eloy Detention Center, Denver Contract Detention Facility, and the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma.
I have been informed by U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar and confirmed by the City of El Paso, Texas that there are two known active cases of tuberculosis registered at Camp East Montana. There are also at least 18 cases of COVID-19.

I had been hearing rumors of this from my contacts for weeks.

Great work everyone.

If there's one benefit from all the Republican criminality and corruption it's that you never have to treat them like good faith interlocutors again. Every currently living Trump accomplice should be treated at most to a reflexive "Eat Shit" for life, and that's better than they deserve

on the balance i think partisan gerrymandering is bad but the only way it ends is if democrats weaponize it against republicans everywhere they can. wiping out republican lawmakers in blue states might bring the GOP to the table to end the practice.

When your representative says "Don't talk to me about my own morality," I suggest talking to them about their own morality INCESSANTLY.
“I would rather you vote for what is morally correct,” Davidson said.

“Don’t talk to me about my own morality,” DeLauro shot back.

“Don’t tell your constituents what they can and can’t talk to you about,” replied Rev. Nathan Empsall. “What you are voting for is not moral.”

Child: My favorite one is a gold snake that can move. It has gold eyes, and it has a super-duper tail…

Mamdani: Yes. It’s also the golden snake."

Metry and her husband of 4 years go to DHS to get their I-130 in motion. "Good news" a DHS employee told them, the form to start her naturalization was approved.

DHS employee asks the husband to follow him through a secure door. When it locks behind him, ICE detains his wife to deport her.
EXCLUSIVE: Terez Metry was 13 when her family fled to Tennessee from Egypt in 2011. Then, they left her behind. She only recently discovered she had an order of removal from 2011. But she was following the legal path to citizenship. On Monday, at a routine DHS meeting, Metry was detained.

Judge Talwani says that DHS' view that noncitizens lack 4th amendment rights — combined with ICE use of administrative warrants — is a recipe for abuse.
