You can say whatever you want about Taylor's statement, but it reflects the unspoken business model of too many places (almost all, TBH).

The new generation is trying to push this to be unsustainable, but game dev studios are niche, so it's hard.

Why do we love so much making games to this level?
I say this with utmost respect, but Taylor is an absolute tool for saying this privately or publicly.
I can say on good authority that it takes 7 to 10 years to develop game development skills to “good enough” to produce commercial game content. 7-10 years plus the cost of a university education.

They keep coming comparing him to Jesus.

Fine. Whatever.

Nail him to a tree. Stab him in the side. Throw his carcass in a cave.

If he rises from the dead in three days, I’ll join the cult.

some people like cilantro

to some people cilantro tastes like soap

but it's an error to assume these must be mutually exclusive, it's probably a venn diagram, there must be some people for whom it tastes like soap that just enjoy the soapy flavor

Hello, friends! After 10(!) years of #AdventOfCode, I've made some changes to preserve my sanity: there will be 12 days of puzzles each December (still starting Dec 1) and there is no longer a global leaderboard. Read more:

I have lots of conflicted feelings about boycotting works because of their authors.

@maaleo.bsky.social told me once: "there's 150 probably honest, hard workers in this TV show, they'll suffer if you boycott because of the author", and that's powerful.

This woman is where I set the mark, though.
A portion of every dollar spent on Harry Potter merchandise goes to anti-transgender campaigns.

These things are not comparable, IMO.

It's like having a PC with 4Gb of RAM running Unity, and complaining it's super show, and someone pointing out they programmed with punctured cards.

Technology changed the game, games now are expected to be delivered faster, and some level editora are bad.
"ugh my level editor is so bad wah" that's what u sound like

Not only isometric Action-RPGs existed long before Diablo 1, there's one from 1995 with an evil Butcher that says "fresh meat" and attacks you.

Unfortunately this all gets buried because David Brevik goes around telling everyone that he invented Action-RPGs :P
But HANG ON, it gets weirder. Two.
Remember the Butcher in Diablo?
I saw it in Ancient Evil and thought "ah a reference". Well, no. Trial By Magic did it first in '95: a chef cooking and eating human meat who welcomes the player with "fresh meat". See my reaction.
Blizzard...?? Were you uh...??
