I have lots of conflicted feelings about boycotting works because of their authors.
@maaleo.bsky.social told me once: "there's 150 probably honest, hard workers in this TV show, they'll suffer if you boycott because of the author", and that's powerful.
This woman is where I set the mark, though.

It's like having a PC with 4Gb of RAM running Unity, and complaining it's super show, and someone pointing out they programmed with punctured cards.

Not only isometric Action-RPGs existed long before Diablo 1, there's one from 1995 with an evil Butcher that says "fresh meat" and attacks you.

This is a very uncomfortable fact in the industry, and so many examples are blatant in that sense.
From genres being reduced to a single title (which nobody could wage a ~war against this ~shadow), to studios suing anyone that use a single name in their titles (and that's a whole another ~saga).

The problem with the patent office *rubber stamping* video game patents is an extension of a much bigger problem with global regulatory bodies:
They don't understand video games or the games market. It won't be solved overnight.
