Pro-tip: I always name my disease in Plague Inc. game "Stupidity". This makes the game MUCH more realistic...

Post from @naomuito.bsky.social , just with the alt text for reference.

(They even comment something like "now that's the proper way of writing a headline" - which I fully agree, BTW)

I don't think I ever did. This is definitely something I need to work: watch more content creators about gaming.

I really dislike opinions, and love theory based channels (in general).

And I'm open to any suggestions. 😀

If the author didn't read it, I have a long thread about that: bsky.app/profile/nand...

But if I have to enumerate one item, is lack of teamwork.

There's this belief that artists are lonely, geniuses, and all work alone.

And we waste too much time in meetings and alignments because of that.

I played Skyrim less than I should, so my opinion is very shallow. Felt buggy but fun. And definitely was ahead of its time, looking back.

I just didn't have a good enough PC back there. I should revisit it, and eventually I will.

Keystone Kapers, from Atari 2600.

Of course I didn't know how to translate into words or concept back there (I was just a kid, I'm not that old :) ), but what fascinated me was the learning curve (which was often terrible in Atari - again, I didn't know what that meant, just had a feeling).

This could be a very long thread, actually, but I don't think that's what the question's author meant.

So, I don't think it's 100% BS, nor it's always the case. Tynan Sylvester is very auteur. So is Hideo Kojima.

Don't make sense to consider just Lucas Pope an auteur because he works "alone".

(Ironically) the NBA 2K series never grabbed me at all ("hate" is too strong of a word, I don't think I hate any game), but I love they built a story mode in a sports game.

OTOH, Phantasy Star IV (which I truly love)'s story being 100% linear feels just lazy. The elements were all there.

Game hot take: the label "indie", far too many times, doesn't make sense. By using that we often don't discern a team of 50 people working on something than a person doing all of that in the night.

Caravaneer series is a hidden gem in the world of Flash games. The fighting mechanic is awesome (the creator stated it's inspired in Fallout 1&2, but for me, it is actually better), it has a nice story, but the economic mechanic is where the game really shines.

Caravaneer 2 is on Steam, BTW.

I have to mention the game that I played most than any other. People have lots of prejudice about it, but no game made a better job in working as a sandbox than Minecraft - and the millions of hours of content online state that.

Also, redstone. What a mechanic.

To mention a AAA game, I have an almost-mystical relationship with GTA III. I was an undergraduate student in a friend's house, he was playing it and I was watching it for the first time. 23:00 he said "I'm gonna sleep, play a little". I started playing, looked aside, and it was 9:00 already.

Papers, Please is another game that should be (even more) talked about. One doesn't often see a game that tells a story via its game mechanic. I played this the first time remembering on Alan Moore, and why he's against adaptations. This story needs to be this game. Glory to Arstotzka!

I started this because someone mentioned Phantasy Star 4. This is a complete gem. Great story, great characters, great mechanic. Shadowed by the brilliant Chrono Trigger, it's one of the best storytelling from the 16-bit linear era.

A kinda recent game, but my number 1 in hours on Steam. A great lesson in Game Design - BTW, everyone interested in GD should read Tynan Sylvester's book

Reskeet a picture of the very first game you remember playing.

(Keystone Kapers, Atari 2600. Still a great game.)
