I defended my PhD dissertation, "Tracing and Assessing Transformational Climate Adaptation over Time in Public Wastewater Infrastructure Systems" yesterday! My defense was a massive success and I am honored to have earned a PhD in civil & environmental engineering from the University of Connecticut!

slavery is one of the rare things historically where the more you learn about it the more you realize your initial assessment was correct and it was in fact one of the most evil things ever to occur

The American right does not defend slavery because progressives say it was bad. They defend slavery because racial hierarchy has been an important and increasingly explicit component of their ideology for 70 years. Read a fucking book.

You cannot “repeal” or “revoke” a scientific finding and every reporter framing it that way, even if in opposition to it, is reinforcing the dangerous narrative that you can.

The federal government has declared that they no longer recognize or act upon a sound scientific consensus. Start there.

You can't... repeal... a scientific finding. At that point it's just called lying about it.

Here’s a periodic reminder that MLB is full of shit. There aren’t rich teams and poor teams … just rich owners who spend on their teams and rich owners who don’t. And the latter will do anything they can to distract you from this fundamental truth.
What would MLB look like with a salary cap? Explaining the wide-ranging, game-changing effects
From free agency to guaranteed contracts to franchise values, a salary cap would completely remake the MLB landscape.

1) The acts of this regime are understood as CRIMINAL VIOLENCE against life itself.
2) These maniacs are held accountable for their crimes.
3) We dismantle their petrofascist doomsday machine and begin to repair the harms. 🎁🔗 #ClimateSky 🔌💡

I had to live through years of liberal "experts" and corporate journalists telling me that the Republican Party had abandoned climate denial.

Climate denial denial was delusional crap.
Burgum: "CO2 was never a pollutant. When we breathe, we emit CO2. Plants need CO2 to survive and grow. They thrive with more CO2. So the whole endangerment thing opens up an opportunity for the revival of clean, beautiful, American coal."

the thing about AOC 2028 that reminds me of Trump 2016 is that it seems obvious *somebody* will take her down but as soon as you get to individual names you have your doubts anyone actually can
I'm still long on AOC, I think she'd consolidate the progressive lane if she ran while half a dozen centrist assholes duke it out to see which one can most convincingly refuse to imagine a better world

In particular, the rise of solar, wind (despite the headwinds), and grid-scale battery technology for electricity is being driven by market forces - even in places like Texas. The pressure on old thermal (fossil fuel) plants is relentless and will prevail (again, despite Myron Ebell).

Whatever the EPA tries to do this week, understand that a) it will still be challenged in court (probably successfully - though it might take a while); b) EPA is not doing much in any case; and c) most of the action in the US is at the state and local level.

I will eventually shut up about this but Bad Bunny’s use of the power lines is an outstanding example of how to communicate about climate and energy issues. Not about who is the smartest nerd in the room and spewing numbers but about people’s actual lives. Genius.
