I defended my PhD dissertation, "Tracing and Assessing Transformational Climate Adaptation over Time in Public Wastewater Infrastructure Systems" yesterday! My defense was a massive success and I am honored to have earned a PhD in civil & environmental engineering from the University of Connecticut!

You know what was unhelpful, all the electeds and pundits back in the spring saying, "to be sure, maybe DOGE is needed to increase efficiency". That's not what it was for, it was meant for destruction and crimey stuff. Total marks.

I’ve been saying for years that the best way to deal with Trump is to play him since he’s so fucking easy to play. None of them took me up on it until now

Mandami owned the president in the Oval Office today. Nobody on here is saying Trump earns brownie points for fawning over the mayor-elect. Trump threw a bunch of Republicans’ messaging under the bus because Trump has no principles beyond himself and Mandami is a good politician with charm to burn.
No it isn't. That traitor ass was calling for executions yesterday. And today everyone is gufawwing at his smiling shit smeared mouth.
Mamdani called the bluff of a meeting, but looks like trumpy got his hail mary distraction from his behavior yesterday.
This shit isn't cute.

Using the word “orthodoxy” as if it’s a philosophical difference and not trampling on hard settled science
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.
RFK Jr. Says He Instructed CDC to Change Vaccines and Autism Language on Website
In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

In a warming world, there is no material prosperity without environmentalism.
If there’s no shale gas then there’s no shale gas, but I still think environmentalism is basically bad and politicians should focus more on material prosperity.

"Cellphone records showed that two days before the purported attack, her co-conspirator searched online for 'zip ties near me'"

it won’t feel good to say but it is crucial to actually admit this:

democrats’ pivot to affordability is already seeing them tear up climate policies

and any effort to lower costs for consumers will conflict with investments in renewables, unless even more money is poured into them
Democrats’ New Affordability Message Is Complicating Climate Policy
The transition to clean energy will be expensive today, even if it’ll be cheaper in the long run.

This will be a very interesting HOF voting season because there’s no consensus pick, several controversial figures (for varied reasons!), and an absolute fuckton of borderline cases.

Big opportunity for 2 of my favorites, Pedroia and King Felix, to build on their promising ballot debuts last year.

When I'm dictator I'm going to mandate that all teenage characters in videos/movies/TV shows/etc be played by people exactly the correct age. No more 26 year olds pretending to be high schoolers. Everyone is going to internalize what a 15 year old actually looks like
Holy shit. They're really doing it. They're doing "actually pedophilia is good now." The debasement of the American Right is complete.
