Ron Torbert will serve as the referee for Sunday’s Patriots-Chargers game. Torbert’s crew called an average of 12.81 penalties per game on the season, ninth-most in the league. His group was among the league leaders in two very specific penalties, offensive holding (43) and false starts (40).

For Drake Maye, his first career postseason start Sunday night will be defined in many ways by how he deals with the guy he used to use when he picked up the controls to play Madden.

“He’s relentless.”
