Civil conflict*, generalized state paralysis punctuated by acts of performative cruelty with a few inflection points is still the median outlook, I think.

Though it’s wild the way the administration is flirting with disunion right now.
Is there a version of this that doesn't end in civil war?

Costco is co-locating housing above a new store in South LA, 800 units.

Unbelievable that we've been building malls & big box stores for, what, sixty years, and never figured this out

"more training will solve this" is easily debunked by the fact that the killer was a trainer at ICE. It's a barrel of bad apples that exists to produce bad apples and the solution is you woodchip the barrel and compost the apples and try something else.

ICE Agent Who Reportedly Shot Renee Good Was a Firearms Trainer, per Testimony
Jonathan Ross told a federal court in December about his professional background, including “hundreds” of encounters with drivers during enforcement actions, according to testimony obtained by WIRED.

They’re pulling out of chicago too for Minneapolis. This is going to get very worse very soon.
Federal immigration officers are pulling out of a Louisiana crackdown and heading to Minneapolis in an abrupt pivot from an operation that drew protests around New Orleans and aimed to make thousands of arrests, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.

Unsurprisingly a random protester has much better framing than nearly all politicians. And handles the bad faith questions easily

Thing is for the “this is no taxation without representation” thing, I’ve *got* dogshit representation (Andy Harris) who is probably faithfully representing my dogshit neighbors by approving all this shit. This is worse than taxation without representation.

It is deeply counter to the whole very basic concept of this nation that its citizens can be taxed and then have funding withheld punitively because the person exercising the power of the presidency decides on a whim to do so.
at some point we're gonna have to have a real conversation about why we're still paying federal taxes to a regime that isn't using them to help anyone, but instead is using them to brutalize us

For those that don’t follow Aaron closely, a friendly reminder that his children attended Annunciation Catholic School which was the site of a school shooting less than 5 months ago.

No child should ever experience these kinds of horrors.
We evacuated our kids out of Minneapolis this weekend and my spouse reports that as she drove them out of town she saw "multiple freeway exits where people are being pulled over." It feels like the Twin Cities is being subjugated by a hostile occupying force.

It’s the smaller acts of resistance that stack atop one another, over time, that we are all capable of engaging in. You do not need to lead a vanguard army; but you do need to fulfill a role

It is difficult to explain how dire this situation is. There are 2,200 ICE agents in Minneapolis right now. They are heavily armed and are operating with no rules. The MPD only has 550 officers. StP even fewer. How can they protect us against an invading army? Because that's what this is.

That's because it isn't. You only need an easily achieved 10% of the population out on the streets and the occupation likely ends.
Not an exaggeration at all to say that the feeling in Minneapolis is that the entire metro area is being treated as occupied territory by federal agents. Impossible to overstate how overwhelmingly people here do not like it. This does not feel sustainable.
