This is brave.
I asked 404 to publish my legal name in this article. Since grok doxxed me in early Feb, AI scrapers have reproduced my legal name on hundreds more websites, many of which have wildly inaccurate claims (my net worth is $5 million??! I wish🫩). This way I can have *some* control over the narrative.

So yeah, tax the rich is moral, and it works.

Yeah, I've got tears in my eyes.
As the pedophile führer's ICE Nazis are ordered to release people they've kidnapped, they do it in the dead of night to make sure it's as cruel and brutal as possible. Fortunately, compassionate Patriots are there to meet them and make sure they're ok and driven to their homes.

The Vatican Observatory does some really good science.

Part of that is because they don't have to scramble for money.

They have a steady budget, and the mandate is 'do astronomy'.

So that's what they do.

Same principle applies to any creative endeavor.
there is a reason patronism led to some of the greatest creative output in human history

“you don’t have to spend your time and energy working on anything except your art” means more art

Short thread. Essential reading.
This reminds me of a coupla decades ago when the argument du jour was “What if Van Gogh had been medicated for his depression?!” with the implication that he wouldn’t have created art if he wasn’t miserable.

A) fuck that noise
B) Van Gogh didn’t own anybody his art OR his misery
this is why the whole “oh, suffering creates great art” thing is bullshit

you know what’s conducive to art? a roof over your head and food on the table

you know what isn’t? stressing out over where the fuck the rent money is going to come from

It's a fraud on the American People.

Like Nazis before them they should be looking over their shoulders until they are caught, or die.

Thing is… people know when they aren’t poor. And they resist being made poor (see Luddites).

Once poor they can be convinced “this is as good as it gets”.

But the step from “not poor” to poor… is not taken willingly.
Today @zeblarson.bsky.social talks about "mudsill theory," the idea that you need to keep the masses down in order to keep the hierarchy strong. There are parallels to be drawn between 19th century slavery apologists, Salazar's Portugal, and Trump's America www.liberalcurrents.com/the-pain-is-...

The New Deal was about avoiding unrest. Between 1890, and 1930 most people had moved out of feeling “poor”.

The Depression risked them thinking they had no more to lose.

That could have led revolt (maybe even a socialist revolution).

A Social Safety net (WPA/SSA) took the wind out of that sail.
