I love this question.

#A2Council
When we’re doing city planning, why aren’t we asking simpler questions? Like “How could your life be easier if your city or community were different?”
i just want my kids to be able to walk to the store to get stuff so I don't have to.

Some critics lament new buildings being disproportionately rentals. But ownership can't be regulated by the land use plan or zoning. And all housing types are needed as rungs on the ladder to home ownership, for those who prefer that.

Some A2 landlords and property managers don't want to have to compete for tenants.

Democrats notched big wins around the country in yesterday’s election – but another trend, nationally and locally, is that pro-homes candidates also prevailed.

We'll post a list sometime soon but in addition to all the D vs. R stories tonight, in basically every nonpartisan election in the country today, the more pro-housing candidate won.

Here's an interesting piece of history. The land under pioneering Black poet Robert Hayden's former home in Ann Arbor, now recognized as a historically significant place by the #A2council, once had a racially restrictive covenant placed on it... 1/3

Use the linked form to tell your US Rep and Senators we need them to maintain this HUD funding for more than 800 Washtenaw County neighbors. The form is simple and quick.
HUD may restrict funds for permanent housing for recently homeless people
Reports say the administration will cut funding for permanent housing by 70%, putting 170,000 people at risk of homelessness
This threatens $7 mil. and over 800 neighbors in Washtenaw County

who creates the lively art and music scenes if the rent is too high? who makes cultural life? who serves you food or washes your dishes? who creates the fancy little restaurants that draw you to urban living? affordable housing is at the heart of what makes city life worthwhile.

It is incredibly important that #A2Council adopts a Comprehensive Land Use Plan that addresses exclusionary zoning & embraces housing opportunity.

But don’t just take my word for it. Listen to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (@warren.senate.gov) & Fmr. HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge: youtu.be/41zdcPJcTuM
