the thing that strikes me about this — again, besides it being false — is the venom and disrespect for the people who come here to work and build better lives. they aren’t “servants.”
JD Vance: "Democrats' idea was the way you get more prosperity is that you import more and more low wage servants."

Last night, Republicans passed a bill that did nothing to lower costs for Americans.

The shutdown might be over, but the fight for healthcare is not. I’ll continue working in Congress to make healthcare affordable and accessible to everyone.

A lot of people have helped Trump cover up his involvement with Epstein. They need to think very carefully about their choices going forward. It's one thing to cheer on his ballroom or root for DOGE. Running interference for pedophiles is something the history books won’t forget.
EPSTEIN BOMBSHELL: Newly released emails show Jeffrey Epstein told Ghislaine Maxwell that Donald Trump “spent hours at my house,” “knew about the girls,” and “that dog that hasn’t barked is trump.”

The budget we voted on tonight did nothing to protect healthcare for Oregonians. Instead, it’s going to raise costs, putting care out of reach for millions of Americans. I voted no.

This was an amazing event last Friday. Huge kudos to the organizers and sponsors. Loved the energy of the crowd as we watched dancers, moved to music, ate great food, and celebrated Latino culture in Central Oregon.

Beautiful morning today to get out and support our veterans in Bend's Veterans Day Parade. Thank you to all who have served our country, and thank you to Central Oregon Veterans Outreach (covo-us.org) for your continued service to our veterans.

When we build enough supply of homes so that landlords must compete, renters win.

Here are the maps that the District Mapping Advisory Committee is considering sending to the County Commissioners under guidelines they set. This will result in elections where no Commissioner is elected at large in our county of 200k people. Please weigh in with your thoughts to dmac@deschutes.org.

Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".

But there is no "normal". Submission emboldens the tyrant. The threat grows.

seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

It is a handicap in politics to be the party that genuinely believes in governance and is broadly opposed to continued suffering of constituents, and yet there is no future for anything but degradation and misery if the Republican Party under Trump cannot be made to suffer consequences for its acts.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

I asked Georgetown law prof David Super wtf is going on with this latest demand for states to claw back benefits already sent out.
He says the law doesn't allow for this, and if the USDA is mad that states already sent out SNAP money, too bad—they were following USDA's own guidance. Full comments:

I want to be really clear that fixing this means not only outlawing nepotism but paying legislators a wage that does not tempt them to pay their family members as staff. Underpaying our legislators is asking for corruption.
We should probably fix this.
One Oregon lawmaker’s wife made $6,000 a month working in his office at taxpayer expense, but she was not a frequent sight at the Capitol — probably because also working as a full-time fifth grade teacher at a private school

one thing i find crazy-making is the idea that getting rid of the filibuster would make congress a purely majoritarian institution. bicameralism itself is counter-majoritarian! equal state representation is counter-majoritarian! the fact that senate elections are staggered is counter-majoritarian!
