Today someone was telling me how bad socialism is, and then later was lamenting how SNAP and Medicaid are under attack. I think a lot of people truly don't realize what socialism is other than a boogeyman they've been conditioned to hate.

I broke my surgeon and my wife’s rules by writing this story an hour after surgery but it was too good to ignore and I was bored.

If your "big tent vs. fascism" doesn't have as a bare minimum - being against the things fascism does... you don't have a tent against fascism, you just have new flavor of it.

I know it's trendy for progressives to criticize anything that makes anyone feel good as being performative and ineffective, but these protests, and other actions, remind me that I'm not alone. It makes me think that this can still be my home.
