I'm going to hate myself for saying this (plus I'd want to see the attic to be certain) but you don't build bearing walls underneath the ceiling drywall.
god I love reddit. what do you people think holds up the floor if you take all the walls out

NYE/NYD are merely grief anniversaries to me personally. Besides just getting a knee replaced really dampens the party. Glad when it's all over
Rewatching Mad Men and just heard the perfect quote from Roger Sterling

Honestly? Living in Alabama.

When you live between Selma and Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, it is fairly impossible to fall into the "this is the worst it has ever been and it can't get better" pit.

It was way worse for people here, in living memory, and they didn't shrug & give up. So I can't either.

Do you still believe in astrology? Just a little?
Due to the wobbling of the Earth’s axis, the constellations have shifted backward by roughly one sign since they were defined a couple of thousand years ago. As a result of this revolution, the Sun is actually in Sagittarius now, not Capricorn as the astrological zodiac claims.

This thoughtful rep is from tiny Heflin, in very rural Cleburne, smack dab in what I call the Racist Belt of Alabama. This has nothing to do with encouraging military and trade school enrollment and everything to do with race. Not enough white boys. alabamareflector.com/2025/12/25/a...

One of the coolest things about remodeling is the opportunity to uncover the past. I should have made a list of all the things I've found inside walls and attics. An antique scrub board, fake Tag Heuer watch, many many tools, keyrings and change.

The battleship was a dinosaur before WWII even started, built for combat primarily against other battleships. Modern cruisers and destroyers would run rings around one and carry shipkilling weapons now. Long hulls are ideal for submersible drone attacks, that it can't defend itself against.
this just has me thinking about how so much of this government and the movement around it is purely a matter of aesthetics. is there a strategic reason for produce a new warship? maybe. but my hunch is that this is happening because the president thinks it will look cool.
President Trump will announce on Monday a new type of large warship he is calling “battleships,” marking a step toward achieving the president’s vision for a new “Golden Fleet.”
