my phone blowing up this morning with everyone basically yelling the same thing and little videos of snow outside my friends and family members' homes and office windows, I love how snow instantly turns everyone into a big kid 😁
OH MY GOD ITS SNOWING

Tom Terrific would have been 81 today. One of the greatest pitchers ever, extremely underrated and underappreciated.

I don't claim to speak for every asexual, aromantic, or aroace person who has ever lived but they all will probably agree with me when I say that this guy can go fuck himself.
how are the only choices here pedophile or impotence?

Sinner and Alcaraz are just so much fun to watch, especially when they play against each other. It's an entirely different level of tennis.

If Bobby Valentine doesn't give his speech with a fake mustache, I'm gonna be so disappointed.

Sometimes you run across an old quote that stops you cold. From a Jayson Stark article in January 2000:

Tarik Skubal won back-to-back Cy Youngs, a rare achievement, so of course the main talk about him right now is whether or not the Tigers will trade him.

Nothing illustrates the arseholery of the IOC and the British Press more than the use of the image of a not-Trans woman to illustrate a story about trans women being banned (because there are no current trans women competing at this level)

Like the Guardian, people view the BBC as left wing and, as a result, their combined anti trans campaigning has done more damage to trans people than the entire right wing media machine, because they legitimised the right wing's lies.

THEY PEPPER SPRAYED A BABY

THEY PEPPER SPRAYED A BABY

Please read this entire excellent piece by Caroline, which points out that a judge ordered the Feds (again) to stop doing **this exact kind of thing** and they are still continuing to do it all over Chicago
Arianna Sofia Veraza and her parents were driving to Sam's Club for milk, eggs and diapers yesterday when they heard helicopters and horns blaring yesterday. They had turned around to leave when a federal agent pepper-sprayed them through a car window.

Pepper-sprayed Berwyn family rattled after getting caught up in federal blitz
Southwest Side politicians condemned Saturday’s pepper spraying and the federal sweep of Little Village as “state-sponsored terrorism” at a news conference Sunday.

The Parliamentary system is far from perfect but man, I cannot believe that there is a system where the government is just like "That's it, no budget since I hate the other part. So we're going home. Sorry you can't get the things you depend on to live!"
Did you know that in Canada, if a budget doesn’t pass the government doesn’t shut down?

Federal workers aren’t furloughed.

Funding for social services doesn’t dry up.

Failure to pass a budget triggers an election.

It puts the politicians jobs on the line.

They get the budget passed.

"Are there even any-" it doesn't matter. Banning the few trans athletes isn't the point. The point, from Trump's ban on trans people in government to Britain's bathroom ban to Newsom's sports ban, is to make sure everyone knows trans women are OTHER and to act accordingly to us in their daily lives.

This whole thing is just so bleak but Pages unintentionally ruining a gambling scheme because he's not good at plate discipline is kinda funny.
This is one of the pitches that was supposed to be a ball, but Andy Pages swung anyways.

It is not a coincidence that the average MLB career is ~2.7 years and arbitration starts at 3 years of service time.

Don't know of a good way to pull these numbers quickly. But, I'd estimate ~75% of MLB is either pre-arb or arb, and being paid below-market rates for their work at any given time.
My main criticism of the MLBPA is that they’re often bargaining in an effort to help the small percentage of players who reach the ability to actually negotiate their salaries. And let’s be honest, all those guys will be set for life. A good union would fight for its most vulnerable members.

Bob Gibson would have been 90 today. Like another favorite of mine from that era, he too began as a basketball player, was a late bloomer, and later became a WS legend.

Here's my favorite picture of one of the most intimidating pitchers to ever live:
