I have heard stories floating around that Reform did a similar “letter from voter” leaflet in the Caerphilly by election. If that was also lacking the legally required identification it would make their current claims about printer error on the Gorton and Denton leaflet rather less plausible

Since #bbclaurak is trending, let’s remind ourselves that ONE MONTH ago, the BBC invited Mandelson on for a soft-ball interview on her show. While HIS CLIENT , Palantir’s Louis Moseley appeared as a pundit

Both, as I wrote at time, were ‘abject failures of journalism’

Reform UK are seeking to fob off blame for their illegal leaflet on a printer error. That won’t stand up with the police - responsibility for making sure the law is followed lies with the party commissioning and distributing the leaflets.

By the way, for those of you not in MN: Homan’s strategy was to withdraw some agents, so it felt like we were in the denouement of the crisis, and then escalate hard against observers. They’re being incredibly aggressive with observers now. National media may not want to check out just yet

There's no reason to accept this as normal, though. Much of Starmer and Labour's unpopularity is not misfortune but his own doing. Mandelson was a choice. Consistently pursuing policy positions designed to appeal to people who will not vote for you - and alienating core supporters - is a choice.
Starmer's reported condition - incredibly unpopular, shorn of authority, probably un-reelectable and yet will stagger on for want of an alternative - is just the new normal of how Britain is governed. It was also true for two-thirds of May's premiership, half of Johnson's and all of Sunak's.

Trump is a vile racist bully

We should all condemn this without hesitation. But something tells me Farage will find a way to make excuses for his best mate Trump. I hope I’m wrong.

So true. Also, many of the Americans doing literally nothing about Epstein’s American ‘associates’ are precisely the ones lying about Europe & particularly the UK being overrun with child-rapists. It’s insane.
This is preying on my mind a bit. Jeffrey Epstein was not primarily a British scandal! So far we've removed a Prince from the Royal family, fired our US ambassador who was one of the most important political figures of the last few decades and banned the CEO of Barclays from the financial industry..
One by one, Europeans mentioned in the Epstein files who still hold political office are beginning to resign or are being forced out of office.

Meanwhile, ruled by an administration almost entirely made up of Epstein associates, the US carries on as if nothing really happened.

1. Trump certainly wants to fully rig elections.
2. He has no actual plausible plan to do so.
3. We should absolutely take the threat very seriously and actively do what's possible to protect elections and democracy.
4. What's actually likely is success or failure at the margins; every bit counts.
The last time he started talking like this, his allies minimized the risks and we ended up with January 6. This time we must take him literally and seriously. These comments are a five-alarm fire for democracy. In a functioning republic, he would be impeached and removed from office today.

Dear US federal agents, the 1765 case of Entick v Carrington on warrants being required to enter properties was decided *before* your revolution and so forms part of your common law too.
ICE is now claiming it can arrest people without a warrant.

This comes after another internal memo asserting ICE agents can forcibly enter homes without a judicial warrant.

Hello? Democrats cannot let these blatantly unconstitutional actions continue. Not another penny for ICE.

Epstein's predators were men. There are probably more rapists in the Epstein files than there are trans people in the UK. And yet the pearl-clutching TERFS are playing useful idiots to fascism by working to drive trans people out of public life, and worse.

I hate the captive princess narrative so much. It tends to be applied disproportionately to women who are considered conventionally attractive, eg Melania Trump. The fact is that women who choose to marry awful men are usually awful themselves. That’s why they like those men. Adult women have agency
I would like everyone to understand that Talulah Riley was with Elon Musk because she wanted to be there and they had much in common. She was not some poor put upon woke darling trapped with a monster.
