Same.

Also, I am spending less and less time here on bsky for the same reason.

I have decided that knowing every terrible thing that happens in a given day is not good for me and what might be better is to attempt to connect with my community and do things.

This might be better for you too. ❤️
Unless I absolutely must for professional reasons, I will not be watching your nuclear war movie. I will not be watching your incredibly bleak and depressing murder show. I will not be watching your artistic despair. It’s nothing personal, I just don’t order water when I’m already bailing my boat.

Kurt Vonnegut's passage about Armistice Day in "Breakfast of Champions" always hit hard.

He wrote this to make sure everyone knew what we lost when we changed the name of the holiday to Veterans' Day.

I've had the (dis)pleasure of serving as a notetaker at board meetings with wealthy trustees. The rich people in the room definitely went "Omg! Wow! What a genius!"

So yes, they are morons.

Droughts are not just a feature of the western US.

There's Some pretty bad droughts going on in Maine, Ohio, Florida and Georgia right now. Georgia had two multiyear droughts already this century and were discussing running out of water in Atlanta.

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

Optimus robots will just kinda follow criminals around and make sure they don't commit crimes again, so we can eliminate prisons.

Two things about Mamdami that are bouncing around my head today.

1) Dude told people to quit donating and go canvass. He trained a bunch of canvassers, many from outside nyc.

2) There are a bunch of people looking around their hometowns and thinking. Why can't we have someone like that here?

It’s cool that Chuck Schumer, Kiersten Gillibrand, and Hakeem Jeffries just proved to every future dem that establishment approval is irrelevant tbh
Q: It's election day in NYC. Did you vote for Mamdani or Cuomo?

Schumer: "Look, I voted, and I look forward to working with the next mayor to help NYC."
