I teach "Mapping, Space, and Power" starting tomorrow. This 1942 LAT map came into my head from my grad school days and I spent hours reviving an old hard drive to find it. I can't believe it isn't *everywhere* in lit about understanding the power of maps but it is surprisingly hard to find online.

I would submit that a big part of the problem is that the public still gets to have things like football championships, even as the academic core is being gutted. It preserves the simulacrum of a real university at precisely the wrong time.

I just found out last night that the $50k enrollment bonus only pays out after 5 years of service, and reader, the laugh I let out when I read that woke the dog from across the house. These absolute fucking grapes aren't seeing a dime of that money. No way they can ride out 5 years of this job.
