Hey, maybe we should start taxing the mega rich on unrealized capital gains
To put this in scale, Elon Musk's salary from Tesla alone could fund the SNAP program for the entire country into 2034.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk scored a resounding victory on Thursday as shareholders approved a pay package of as much as $878 billion over the next decade, endorsing his vision of morphing the EV maker into an AI and robotics juggernaut.

I’ve been turning this over in my head since I read the piece, and as I’ve read the discourse on here over the last couple of days. I’m not a professional take-haver, so I’m not terribly invested, but here are my thoughts🧵
If you want my real thoughts, I'm going to write this week's newsletter about the word transsexual and how I think about medical transition within the larger trans community.

Haters, please feel free to pay $12 to see if I say something cancelable. ;)

Worth noting that Affinity Partners is wholly owned by Jared Kushner. Can’t wait to see the next Battlefield game where you’re killing “antifa terrorists” to defend the homeland, or whatever other fascistic propaganda they come up with

I’m begging people to understand what they’re agreeing to when they accept the terms of service. To be clear, I don’t think this should be legal, but it is, and these clauses are in the policies of every social media site, including this one

State AGs have released a video saying that they "will do whatever it takes" to protect trans people in their states.

While the message is admirable, they need to take the one step they have not yet:

Sue the hospitals that capitulate to Trump, violating state law.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently, and I take this back. I’m leaving it up to show my work on this. I wouldn’t compromise, even if the prospective candidate supported big things I liked, for two main reasons:
Then let me rephrase: if a candidate supported enough hugely beneficial policies, but not trans rights, then yes, I would vote for them. But this is a straw man. This candidate doesn’t exist. If you can show me one that does, I’ll eat my hat

“If the Democrats nominee would give everyone free healthcare, housing, and a pony, but didn’t support trans rights, would you still not vote for them?”

Listen to yourselves. Have a little self respect. If a candidate supported all of those things, they’d support trans rights too

New — I wrote about the violent assault on a DC delivery worker this morning by masked federal agents, and how these agents have made the disturbing turn from quiet thugs to playing for the cameras.

Hey @bsky.app, reinstate @jessiegender.bsky.social now! This IS ridiculous!
it appears that @bsky.app have suspended the account of @jessiegender because a trans person saying "I wish ill on JK Rowling" is against the rules, so let me say with my loud cis voice that I too wish ill on all perpetrators of hate speech against trans people

reinstate Jessie, this is ridiculous

People who are arguing with this don’t seem realize how radical reconstruction will need to be post-MAGA. No Dem who is up to the task will be anti-trans, because cleaning up this mess will have to include reconciling with our history of bigotry and inequality
The one thing I want every Democrat in my mention to know is that they definitely haven't convinced me to vote for any Democrats who move to the right on trans issues.

I'm still not gonna do it! Can't make me! :D

Credit to McBride for working on this behind the scenes. I have been heavily critical of her - and still maintain my criticisms given some of what we have seen after her horrible NYT article - but it was good to see her push to keep the medicaid ban out.
Sources tell me that Tammy Baldwin and Sarah McBride worked behind the scenes to get this provision out and to keep Dems together if it had come to a vote.
