Living with Long COVID often feels like living in a horror movie. Along with your disease comes a creepy Hive Mind refusal to acknowledge the dangers of COVID infection. In Vince Gilligan's new Apple TV show Pluribus, the Hive Mind comes to life:

"Pluribus" captures the isolation of COVID-awareness in a COVID denialist world
For years I've described having Long COVID as living in a horror movie. Now that horror movie (well, prestige Apple TV show) is here.

My friend is nonbinary and had to get a breast reduction because their GP was worried about their spine, and now they have to get a hysterectomy because they've got endometriosis, and I can't believe a person can be so biologically transgender that the NHS accidentally insists on transitioning them.

Was listening to Rick Steves while feeding the dogs breakfast and there was an extended bit about how great central Europe aka The Slavs is, and I am now imagining Dracula having Steves under his thrall, making him urge people to go to a beautiful and quiet village with a castle in central Romania.

This reminded me to check whether Alecto the Ninth has a release date yet (answer: no ☹️)
It's just so frustrating that people on the left don't know how economics work. If you were to just take a business class you'd understand that we're supposed to give billionaires more and more money until they build spaceships and abandon the rest of us on an uninhabitable planet.

So, I made these hands for this cabinet that I hate in our guest bathroom. It doesn't fit to the sink and there's this big gap where you USED TO be able to see ugly plastic tubes to the left. I couldn't think of a good way to hide/fill the space completely, so this was my solution. 🧠

AI hype is making me want to leave the field more than anything else I've had to deal with in academic libraries.

Librarians told 404 Media they are being inundated with new pitches for AI library tech and catalogs are being flooded with AI slop books that they need to wade through. AI maximalism across society is supercharging the ideological war on libraries, schools, academics
