The @plagueofangels.bsky.social gig at York minster was incredible. It was an experience of the cathedral as a meeting place of communities - so much better than merely history.
Plus the band were just killer. If you haven't played guitar standing on an organ under a huge cross are you even metal?

White women, please be on the lookout for this ish, know that we're obligated to be the frontline of shutting it down.

Much history of the abuse of Global Majority women comes from defining WW as fragile/delicate/must be protected/ "feminine" & the *baseline* of womanhood & it's harmful bullshit.
Non-white women are going to be accused of being masculine or gaining an edge, when they defeat white women who fit the western ideals of femininity.

All that white women will need to do is accuse their non-white opponent of not being a woman. And men will come to destroy her to feel “protective”.
Yeah this wasn't on my radar until last summer's Paris Olympics and the meltdown on social media over the Algerian boxer. It made the connection for me how the trans women in sports freak out circles around to controlling all women. Absolutely morbid. And eye opening.

March 7 is the feast day of Perpetua and Felicitas.
The two young North African women were martyred publicly in the arena for their Christian faith in around 203.

Go into this thread. It's great. Start with @lainad.bsky.social her book is still one of the most important in metal studies and her work is stellar and then discover all the other people Ryan has put on here.
It's Metal Black History Month!
Dr. Laina Dawes is a music journalist, photographer, lecturer, writer and music critic. She is the author of "What Are You Doing Here? A Black Woman’s Life and Liberation in Heavy Metal" a must read for metalheads. #MetalBlackHistoryMonth

Really lovely to hear @bethallisonbarr.bsky.social speaking about her important book "Becoming the Pastor's Wife" to @feministtheology.bsky.social
Understanding how we end up with these ideas of gender roles that are being proclaimed so loudly is important, knowing how to fight them even more so.

Just because you're carving it into clay doesn't meant you can't be snide.
“This is nice behaviour, that I write to you again and again, and you pay no attention to me.”

This almost 4,000-year-old Babylonian letter in clay is proof that we have been finding ways to say “per my last email” for some time
