Writer, artist and mushroom-botherer. Nature and travel are my besties.
The very first professional, non-musical play I ever saw in London was Tom Stoppard's "Jumpers" back in 2003. I picked it based on the gorgeous poster, knowing nothing about the play itself, but it started a passionate lifelong love of theatre for me. RIP to Tom Stoppard, truly one of the greats.

How is AI *really* impacting jobs?

Henley Chiu, the CTO of Revealera, a jobs data analysis firm, analyzed 180 million jobs listings in 2024 and 2025, in an effort to find out. Chiu found an:

-8% drop in all jobs postings
-~30% drop in art, photography, writing jobs
-22% drop in journalism jobs
What’s really going on with AI and jobs?
Record-breaking layoff reports, Amazon's mass firings, and a slump in entry level employment. Is AI behind it all?

It's not just about the broken trust between writer and reader, or all the time, energy and unfounded faith invested by booksellers, but it's also about the important stories still unheard of those living with illness and homelessness that could have been elevated by the industry instead.

You know what would **really** disrupt the publishing industry?
Fair contracts and decent pay for authors.
No AI training without the creator’s consent.
Artists and translators on the cover.
No NDAs for ghostwriters.

So...that's a straight up lie isn't it? One is a centuries deep industry with proven economic results, returning pounds to the economy per penny invested

One is wholly unproven, and is visibly a bubble. It's embarrassing to see governments fall for this stuff.

This @davidmcswane.bsky.social investigation into a Montana oncologist’s truly horrifying level of malfeasance is the best article I’ve read all year, by a pretty sizable margin. www.propublica.org/article/thom...
