Saw a post saying that STEM kids should stick to STEM.

No. That focus on hard science and math at the expense of culture and art is part of how we got here.

Sitting down to make an Official Neopets TRPG, taking out a copy of D&D5E and staring at it thoughtfully for 16 hours before crossing out "Gelatinous Cube" and writing "Blopple" next to it, I make 100 billion neopoints and get a card that says I can now legally duplicate items
the neopets ttrpg kickstarter is going great

Today I found out about the existence of Taylor More Swiftly, a ska punk supergroup that only covers Taylor Swift songs. "The new Oizone" some people (me) are saying.

Ok, Wonder Man was pretty good.
I especially liked that it didn't actually have a super fight in it at all

If you're located in US, EU or UK then it's possible that you could be experiencing issues on Owlbear Rodeo.

This is due to Cloudflare maintenance happening at major datacenters in those regions.

We'll update again once the maintenance is completed. Sorry for the inconvience ya'll!!

I totally misread this as brown sauce fanfic, and for a brief moment I felt joy that it was wholesome and healthy.

Then I saw my error
I'm always surprised how healthy the HP fanfic output still is. Lots of it is queer, and AUs/reimagined endings rule, so I feel like there's a lot of trying to retain ownership of a little bit of a thing they loved, but I just fundamentally don't get it. But at least it's not money going to JKR
Harry Potter fan in 2026: yes the author is a Nazi with ties to Jeffrey Epstein but I don't see any of that when I buy my annual wand at the Wizarding World in Florida

I have recently learned the term "labelscar." It's a concept I've known for years, but I didn't know the name for it. It describes the faint impression left on a building after signage is removed, often reminding us of who the former occupant was.

This is also the reason Vampire has Humanity, Werewolf has Hauglosk/ Harano, and Hunter has Despair. The game acknowledges that you are likely to do Bad Things, but the more you indulge Bad Things, especially to further your own ends, the more likely you are to lose the character to monstrosity.

Gaiman is already suing one of his accusers. If he had any actionable claims against "There is No Safe Word", he would have sued New York Magazine and Lila Shapiro. The fact that he is instead pointing readers to some random substack article tells us all we need to know.
I find the entire genre of "tens of thousands of words minutely refuting every point of an abuse clam" intrinsically unpersuasive. If any of the evidence were actually damning they'd just highlight that instead of doing a tedious Gish Gallop.
I haven't read that massive Substack thing that Gaiman linked to in his whinge, and nor am I going to. If you need tens of thousands of words of rant and innuendo to embed your "shocking evidence" in, you don't have shocking evidence, you have a conspiracy manifesto.

I'll just add, as someone who's been doing investigative reporting for decades, all publications doing real journalism (i.e., not a sockpuppet or Some Guy on the Internet)--they have MANY layers of editorial & legal review. Every major investigation I've done has had EVERY WORD checked many times.

Re: Gaiman - El Sandifer’s short thread here is precise and right. Nothing more need be said, really.
Past that, to my mind there's very little refutation to be done here. Even if you disbelieve the more salacious details, you've still got a long term pattern of Gaiman adding a BDSM dynamic with poor to nonexistent safety measures to relationships that already have massive power imbalances.

Had a general health check up at the GPs today.

Apparently I've grown.
I was 1.89m last time, and 1.91m this time.

That would make me 6'3"

Watched 'Havoc' on Netflix tonight.
It's not the best film in the world, not close, but it has some fun moments.

It's an attempt at a John Wick movie with a more complex plot.

And a criminal waste of Olyphant.

I enjoyed the nightclub fight, even if it included multiple shark jumps
