Especially as policy dictated by people whose own lists of crimes are as long as their arm, implemented via methods and tactics that are themselves criminal.
Sorry to be Radical Left but I don't think we should put people who haven't committed a crime, and aren't even accused of committing a crime, into any sort of "Detention"

This is a super-cool premise for a game, a poignant inversion of the Tomb Raider-style fantasy.
Johannesburg’s Nyamakop Studios turns African artifact repatriation into a bold heist game.

Protagonist Nomali and a crew of ordinary citizens reclaim 70 real-life artifacts taken during the colonial era.

Hmm, I wonder if there's a word for this.
The Big Money in Today’s Economy Is Going to Capital, Not Labor
Soaring profits and stocks funnel more of GDP toward companies, their top employees and shareholders. AI will intensify this trend.

This came out in the same year as Electronic’s “Getting Away With It,” and it is astounding to me how much more absolutely out of its gourd this song is, let alone the tooth-achingly earnest corporate messaging taking place.
This 4 minute video is the best thing ever ever done in the world of Brand videos. This is what happens when the client calls all the shots and has terrible ideas.

The theme song is everything.

The minimum wage was literally established so that a person earning it could sustain themselves and some amount of family on it. It made no provision for “youth minimum wage” because the labor is the labor. Anyone who says “You were never supposed to live off it” is either incorrect or just lying.
NEWS: The Nebraska legislature has approved a bill to lower the youth minimum wage from $15 per hour to $13.50 per hour.

So it's Black History Month and that means I think it's a good time to get familiar with Mike Pondsmith, if you're not already.

When you see R. Talsorian Games, that's him. When you see Cyberpunk 2077, that's his world.

Mekton, Castle Falkenstein, also him.

In self-determination theory (one of my favorite game design toolboxes), this is "relatedness": the demonstration of how the players' choices and game systems affect the game world.

Players thwart a dragon? Have NPCs call them "the dragonslayers," for example, and start a new community in the lair.
RPG tip from the archive: Show the characters the worldly results of their actions.

I would have described it as a "speculation economy" or a "gambling economy," but "scam economy" works well.

Nothing created; fortunes wagered on quarterly line-go-up mining a finite amount of cultural objects that the wagerers believe to be infinite. Investment is a bet on "Can I flip this?"
The post-industrial period of a developed economy is characterized by three phases.

Until the 2010s, we were in a service economy. Now we are in a scam economy. And we are about to find out what phase comes next.

Context: this speech is from SIR THOMAS MORE, a history written, as near as scholars can tell, in the early 1600s by 6 or 7 people including Dekker, Heywood, Chettle, Shakespeare, and Munday.

It was never performed, because Jacobean England was a police state and it was banned by the censor.
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

You could tell the Traitors producers really wanted you to hate this dude when they repeatedly showed him shoveling his food from the edge of the plate into his mouth.

This is also the reason Vampire has Humanity, Werewolf has Hauglosk/ Harano, and Hunter has Despair. The game acknowledges that you are likely to do Bad Things, but the more you indulge Bad Things, especially to further your own ends, the more likely you are to lose the character to monstrosity.

I had no idea who this Peter Attia joker was but about a year ago I was having a cocktail and reading at a bar and someone came up to me and asked me if I was reading a Peter Attia book and then he harangued me about the dude and it made the hair on my neck stand up. Sure enough, apparently.
