one of the weirdest things that people believe on a website where the collective mood changes every thirty-six hours is that events completely unknown to 60% of the population, where 90% have the facts wrong, will have persistent effects eighteen months later

They share it? Funny because I spend about $20k/yr on groceries, the farmer’s market, and my CSA. I must be some sort of idiot paying for food all this time.
California alone produces a third of all the food America eats. So this is a lie.
But let’s break down the food produced by the red states:
Guess what percent is harvested by people from Latin America?

Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.
Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.
One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.

Great day to stay off social media. If there’s a social network primarily populated of people working from a position of weakness who hold the life and death decisions of millions in their hands, I’d be happy to lurk on it to get meaningful and informed opinions.

Not only that, but many of them have access to discounts when purchasing food that a lot of us don’t. Cash goes further. If you want to feel a more personal connection, though, volunteer! Lots of food banks need extra hands, to distribute food or to sort and shelve incoming donations.
Did not know that food banks don't pay sales tax, so their dollar can stretch more!! Cash donate to your local food bank!!
SNAP benefits are under attack during this government shutdown and food banks are picking up the slack.
But they need your help. Here are the best ways to do that:

mourn the collective loss of genius of folks who were actively discouraged or disadvantaged from a career in science because of the same person(s)

@wellerstein.bsky.social I am surprised not to read that this film has anything officially to do with Annie Jacobson’s strikingly similar Nuclear War narrative… It’s hard to believe, considering the relative lack of saliency of this topic that this is just another Deep Impact/Armageddon coincidence.

Once again, jury nullification is one of the few, direct ways that ordinary people can make the law more fair. Don’t dodge jury duty!

One of the weirdest artifacts of social media is the prominence of high-propensity/low-information voters.
The replies are full of ppl that are completely unaware that Ken Martin endorsed Mamdani before the election and that the DNC was also supportive of him pre-election too. Just a bunch of political hobbyists that know shit about fuck.
Congratulations, @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social, for winning the NYC mayoral election!

Every time she comes up, I remind you all that Pamela Paul killed a pro trans paragraph in a review I wrote for the New York Times, lied about it in the press, then when I confronted her with receipts, said “Let’s keep this to ourselves.”
In which a straight woman highlights a bunch of known anti trans activists and claims there's a divide in the queer community.
It's pure propaganda and gaslighting.
