Global negotiations at the annual U.N. climate summit ended Saturday in Belém, Brazil, with a watered-down agreement that does not even mention fossil fuels, let alone offer a roadmap to phase out what are the primary contributors to the climate crisis.

we spent 71 minutes from start to finish in an ER last night, and $1 on meds after (with $12 on hospital parking)

long live Canadian health care?! I was stunned the wait was so short. for context, every time we’ve been to an ER - both pre and post panini - it’s been 4-12 hours wait.

It astounds me that after over two years of recognized genocide, large media outlets are still publishing headlines like this. I don't know what else to say except I hope one day there is a reckoning for it.

What people don’t understand is the problems with the Canadian system are the same as those in the U.S. but they pay a lot more for it
I recently saw a Canadian on another site tell us dumb Americans we only think we want their healthcare system, because there are 9 hour waits at the ER. Endlessly dragged with “we have that here, but you get a $10k bill” comments.

This is a family of six in a threadbare tent- even a little donation can help ❤️
I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Tahrer. Tahrer worked in the beauty industry. Her family lost their home and her husband is ill. She is living in a tent with her four children, Muhammad (who just got a 93% on his high school exam), Hudhaifa, 16, Habiba, 14 and Elaf, 8.

Having reported on research for Everyday Health, Healthline, Global Healthy Living Foundation, Prism, etc. (www.equitableforall.com/writing-page/), I will add that BIPOC researchers were often treated terribly enough by privileged journalists that they no longer trusted the media, for good reason! 👀

Every big tech CEO is now proclaiming that there’s an AI bubble but don’t worry they’ll survive the bubble bursting but you can’t say the same for startups.

I can’t escape the assumption they’re all talking about OpenAI.

I will no doubt read and enjoy all your very good Nuzzi jokes, but I also want to say earnestly, so many of us (myself included) are on the verge of being pushed out of this industry and it's genuinely so dispiriting to see the worst among us, ethics-wise, get such preferential treatment.

Reporters covering Trump are not the same reporters assigned to cover the NYC mayor's race. Beat reporters have to develop sources and that takes time so you can't just switch beats with every story. So no, a reporter covering the NYC race is not going to suddenly do a Trump story, and vice versa.
So when Trump is running for president, stories about him are less newsworthy than when Mamdani is running for NYC mayor? Fascinating, continue, you're doing really well.

I legitimately think this article misses the mark, because Canadians are not avoiding travel out of some principled boycott of the USA over tariffs.

Canadians who are avoiding the USA are seeing images of masked government thugs kidnapping people and teargassing children.

A movement that needs to gain greater momentum in Canada is Universal Basic Income. We have to do something other than wish jobs would come back and fund shelters and food banks. There are solid studies on the benefits of UBI. Ireland just backed a program for artists (because of study outcomes).

Hospitals across Canada are closing their ERs because there aren't enough doctors to run them. Millions don’t have a doctor. Millions more can’t get an appointment.

It didn’t used to be this way. Turns out it wasn’t an accident.
