I sometimes despair that the camera can never really capture just how amazing the natural world can be. But sometimes, just sometimes, the winter light hits those reeds and all those reflections pop... #birds #birdphotography #birding #photooftheday #photography #NatureIsAmazing

I think of all the lawyers propping this up. The men and women working behind the scenes to silence independent voices.

The loss of Catherine O'Hara is great. And she has left us so much. Some of her very best work — Schitt's Creek and The Studio — was done in the last decade. What a brilliant career. Rest in peace. Thanks for all the laughs.

The King Oak - Sevenoaks, the Kingdom of Kent

The only one of the original ‘seven oaks’ to survive the hurricane of 1987.

The other six have since been replaced, so no longer the town of ‘Oneoak’

Getting the impression that ICE is gearing up for a pogrom in Springfield, Ohio, which was ground zero of Vance’s lies about Haitians during the campaign. Haitians lose temporary protected status on February 3rd. Reporters, lawyers, neighbors — please get ready.

It is wild watching the Washington Post be dismantled. I'm so proud of the freelance work I did with them. I learned so much from the exemplary team at Food and Voraciously. There are so many beloved recipes in my folder, many by Daniela Galarza. 1/

The civil unrest brought France to its knees. It began with students. Surprise! It basically shut down everything — schools, factories, transportation. It's interesting history, and it reflects the fierce French spirit.

Thank you, Bruce Springsteen. We need a lot more people using their privilege and position to speak out for the resistance.
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

A story needs to be written about the Art Gallery of Ontario and the curatorial resignations and patronage. Along with her stance on Gaza, Goldin staged effective protests linking the Sackler family wealth and art patronage to the Oxycontin crisis.

"Goldin, who is Jewish, took to the podium to “amplify [her] position of moral outrage at the genocide in Gaza, in Lebanon,” and to criticize Germany's conflation of antisemitism and anti-Zionism."

Three curators resign in two years. This is a crisis for the @agotoronto.bsky.social.

“It’s chilling that this censorship plays out especially regarding Palestine, the great exception to free speech,” Goldin told Hyperallergic.

Exactly right, and therefore important not to give credit for an investigation of an obvious atrocity. Appropriate responses are apologies, resignations, firings, impeachments. The individuals who killed people should be tried before a judge and jury.
Okay, so this is an authoritarian playbook trick, once the evidence is overwhelming say everyone needs to wait for the official investigation then either fix it or attack it when its completed. Same shit Russian pulled with MH17 and chemical attacks in Syria, very predictable.
Reporter: Will Stephen Miller be apologizing to the family of Alex Pretti for calling him an assassin?

Leavitt: This incident remains under investigation.

While independent bookstores are giving out free whistles, hosting protest sign making events, and donating proceeds to mutual aid, Amazon is *checks notes* providing technology that assists ICE in their terrorizing of communities.

Independent bookstores deserve your support. Amazon does not.
