Bicyclist, recumbent tricyclist 😃, motorcyclist, grandfather, knitter, materials engineer, retired academic, would-be linguist currently failing structurally and waiting for further replacement parts. 😢
This is hilarious anti-cyclist bollocks. Talk about parading your ignorance in public. It’s hard to know where to start (or stop). But how about “[cyclists] don’t need seat belts”?😂

Truth bomb 👇: Traffic lights exist for cars, not for people walking or cycling. Before cars, we didn’t need them. Only when intersections became controlled and no communication was necessary could high speeds exist without chaos. We traded human interaction for convenience for motorists and danger.

You have to admit it’s going pretty well for Farage Ltd.
Farage: epic grifter
October 27, 2025 at 1:36 PM
People mistake Farage for a politician. He is simply a businessman and his business is Nigel Farage. He has chosen to promote his business through, among other things, politics.
Superb piece by @jamesbloodworth.bsky.social in this month's @bylinetimes.bsky.social mag: "Britain's Media Has Let Nigel Farage Reshape Political Journalism - Why?" This article alone was worth my annual sub to one of the very few news outlets still doing proper journalism

‘Lawless London’ is safer than it’s been in decades
Official data suggests the capital may be safer than at any time in the past half century, comfortably beating other major cities

Milton Keynes, heading the charge in the war on motorists. People really do seem to think that car parks are free, empty space that would become a wasteland if it weren’t used to store their ‘pride and joy’.
Frankly if you can afford to run a car then you can afford to pay for parking.

Strange how these concerned councillors never accuse bus companies of treating passengers like "cash cows".

High car parking charges treat motorists like a 'cash cow'
As councils' parking fees are criticised, they respond by saying it goes on road safety and public transport.

We were also told that gas was the cleaner, healthier alternative. Look where that got us.

I remember the 1970s and clean air acts which for most places banned open fires in favour of healthier heating methods.

Very few need a wood burner, for most one is just a toxic aesthetic that kills.

Use of wood-burning stoves and fires in homes is mostly unnecessary and their toxic pollution costs the NHS millions

Good. But that’s way too high a threshold. No privately-owned passenger vehicle needs to weigh more than 2 tonnes.

We're preaching to the converted of course, but we really wish that those managing projects like this would come and get some advice from people who know what they are talking about.

These are not fit for purpose through their shape, fixings, being too close to each other and to the kerbs!

Fail.
I’m generally a pretty big champion of North Shields and happy to see new stuff happening, but there is so much that is just shoddy about the renovations on the “high street” (Bedford St) and these bike racks are the latest.

Just imagine. If the BBC hadn’t told us that one driving instructor said to them it was a much more dangerous place, now, we would never have know.
2 years of default urban/village 20mph in Wales has resulted in over 1,000 fewer killed or injured. The data shows a 25% reduction in casualties on the 20/30mph roads. Drivers gain with damage risk, crashes and premiums down. Well done Wales. bit.ly/4ppl030

Apart from some wag(s) having rotated various bits of this in different directions, is there anything wrong with this signage? I’m thinking @showmeasign.online might know. Asking for a friend.

For folk used to queuing for the tube, queuing on a bike in the sunshine must be a real breath of fresh air.
Holy shit!

British NIMBYism is truly a sight to behold.

UK authorities are setting 20mph as a norm for urban/village streets. In Wales its set as a national limit. In Scotland as a key element of the Road Safety Strategy. In England 61 local authorities have a wide-area 20mph policy. #20splenty cost-effectively reducing casualties. 26% in Wales.
