I'll keep saying this to whoever will listen: Everything they say and do is for the consumption of the base, they simply don't care what anyone else thinks. The base consists of sadistic idiots who enjoy this shit. Guaranteed they're loving the Gatsby and Lincoln bathroom stuff.
I personally blame AIPAC for that blowout loss in Seattle.
I personally blame AIPAC for my bad hair day.
I personally blame AIPAC for my gap teeth.

In 1916, the US was worried that Germany might take control of the Danish West Indies to use as a submarine base. So, Denmark sold the Danish West Indies to the USA, with the colony becoming the US Virgin Islands. In exchange, the USA acknowledged Denmark's complete sovereignty over Greenland.

We have many fewer guns than them. We have 100 times as many people as them. Even from a purely strategic perspective, it’s insane to pursue any means of resistance but one that negates their superior military force and advantages the side with the greater number of eyes and ears.

The Trump admin is moving to quickly deport two men who witnessed, they say, ICE guards choke a fellow detainee to death.

The admin moved to deport men right after they spoke the Washington Post.

This is the death that the medical examiner has already ruled likely homicide.

DHS seeking to deport two men who said fellow ICE detainee was killed
The two men’s eyewitness accounts of the Jan. 3 death of Geraldo Lunas Campos at a Texas detention camp differ from the Department of Homeland Security’s account of the incident.

Trump’s foreign policy is all about enriching his family & rich friends. It was his billionaire donor Ron Lauder, who has investments in Greenland, who told him to buy it.

Now Trump risks the NATO alliance & war with Europe to pad his friend’s pockets.

We can’t let that happen.

Four GOP Senators.

At most four Repubs in the House.

Together they could stop nearly all the mad-king's rampages. They would be known to history as Profiles in Courage. They might/would lose the next election. But people have sacrificed a lot more, for a lot less.
I can't repeat this enough.
I've said this before and I'll say it again.
It would only take a tiny handful of Republican Congress members or senators to stop the slide of America toward authoritarian fascism, but nope. They're all in.

Just a reminder that Trump is selling Venezuelan oil and depositing the proceeds into a bank account in Qatar that is NOT under any control by the US government or Congress.

He's just stealing it. It really is that simple.

Seems like this post is bound to show up as an exhibit in one of the cases challenging ICE/Border Control enforcement actions.

Lizza sucks but for reasons entirely unrelated to the Nuzzi saga. In this story he is straightforwardly the only credible actor and the victim of an evidence-free smear campaign.
Look, Lizza is annoying, but I see lots of people using this as an opportunity to say that he's bad, or obsessed or milking it, or whatever. But, like, legitimately, this whole story is shameful and I'm glad Lizza is putting it out there.

'Mar-a-Lago Face' Is Everywhere — And The Reason It's So Popular Is Kind Of Sinister
It's a caricature of femininity, and a must for any woman who wants to climb the ranks in MAGA world. But there are deeper reasons the look is so in demand, experts say.

The thing is, "Mass deportation now" was a popular position in 2024 - it polled above 50% approval! There was a complete failure of media to convey what it would look like in practice. Harris tried but her efforts were scoffed at and dismissed.
The dream of sanitized, popular mass deportations rests on the idea that they can be carried out without mass disruptions. But that is not doable. The Trump-Miller agenda by definition requires prioritizing high removals over all else to achieve ethnic cleansing:

There's a lot of competition for the title of "Batshit Craziest Post He's Ever Done" but I do believe we have a winner.
Trump says he'll impose a 10% tariff (rising to 25% in June) on Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and Finland, because they've sent people to Greenland, until the US can buy Greenland.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like someone told him he can't invade.
Trump: "Starting Feb 1, all above mentioned Countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, UK, Netherlands, & Finland), will be charged a 10% Tariff. On June 1, it will be increased to 25%. It will be due until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland."

I am going to be honest that if you aren’t sure whether or not it would be good if the fascists kill a prominent anti-fascist activist with whom you have developed an inscrutable parasocial antagonism, I really doubt the sincerity of your commitment to leftism or anti-fascism

As a Californian, I’m in.
More than 200,000 Danish citizens have signed a petition to buy California as a response to Trump’s attempt to take Greenland.

They say they will provide Californians with “rule of law, universal health care, fact-based politics, and a lifetime supply of Danish pastries.”

half the userbase of this website is addicted to the dopamine hit that comes with "all is loss" bad news. they want to spiral out and resent you when you tell them something tethered to reality.

If you weaponize the DOJ to intimidate elected officials, that’s not “politics.” It’s a federal crime. Retaliatory investigations violate civil‑rights and obstruction laws. Anyone turning law enforcement into a threat is advertising their own liability.

also, it’s tactically real stupid to assume that anyone who dislikes your favorite candidate years before the primary is a tankie non-voter
