It will take decades to correct the damage wrought by this presidency. And that’s assuming we get the chance.

The defunding of the NEA, the gutting of the NEH, and the capture of the Kennedy Center are straight from the authoritarian playbook. My piece in TIME explores the chilling implications.
Trump’s Campaign to Defund the Arts—and Rewrite History
"The campaign to defund the arts, capture our museums, and rewrite our history is a prelude to silencing dissent."

History will remember Rob Reiner for his art, his heart, and his advocacy. It will remember Donald Trump for reducing the presidency to a platform for petty cruelty. Ranting about "mind-crippling diseases" while weaponizing tragedy offers a disturbing look at who is actually unwell.

One of the president’s most sacred duties is to serve as consoler-in-chief for a grieving nation. In moments of sorrow, our pain is deepened by the absence of a leader with the empathy and compassion required to shoulder that responsibility.

The world is an increasingly unpredictable and chaotic place. Check in with the people around you. You never know who might need that kindness.

In a season shadowed by tragedy, we light Hanukkah candles as a reminder that even the smallest flame pushes back the darkness.

May these nights bring comfort to those grieving, resilience to those shaken, and hope to us all.

Chag Sameach.

Last week, I visited a Hanukkah market in New York City. Inside, the atmosphere was joyous, filled with community and tradition—exactly as it should be. Outside, the reality was sobering: metal detectors at the synagogue doors, heavy police presence, and blocked-off streets.

I am horrified and heartbroken by the terror attack targeting the Jewish community in Australia. Antisemitic hate and violence must be given no refuge in our societies. My thoughts are with the injured and the grieving families. May the memories of those senselessly murdered forever be a blessing.

Travelers don’t need fancier outfits or new snacks. We need basic protections when flights are canceled. Infuriating that the Trump administration is prioritizing style over substance—while stripping away the rights passengers actually depend on.

Don’t forget that every member of the Senate who voted to confirm Pete Hegseth is complicit in this mess.

Trump's Ukraine "peace" plan is a profit scheme: let Russia keep stolen territory, rebuild for U.S. gain. That's not defending democracy-it's selling it off.
Trump’s $2 Trillion Plan to Cash in on Ukraine ‘Peace’ Leaks
A Wall Street Journal report details how profit is at the center of Trump’s “peace” talks.

This is the most corrupt, lawless administration in the history of the United States and there’s no close second.

Listening to some old vinyl albums this afternoon. Name a better side one than Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young ‘s Déjà Vu.

Astronaut. Navy captain. Combat veteran. Public servant. If Mark Kelly isn't your definition of an American hero, it's time to get a new dictionary.

Imagine trying to settle a property dispute by talking only to the intruder. That's the logic here. The Trump/Putin proposal is an attempt to impose terms on a country under attack leaving the defending nation out of the room. Peace cannot be done to Ukraine; it must be done with Ukraine.
November 22, 2025 at 8:36 PM
Trump’s so-called "peace plan" is a blueprint for Russian victory. Forcing Ukraine to surrender any territory under threat is not diplomacy—it’s appeasement that guarantees future conflict. We must not reward Putin’s aggression with Ukrainian land.

The U.S. Coast Guard—a branch that literally hunted Nazi submarines in WWII—has decided that swastikas are no longer "hate symbols," but merely "potentially divisive." This is disgraceful and unacceptable. Our grandfathers didn't fight fascism abroad so we could protect its symbols at home.
November 20, 2025 at 8:59 PM
To the Coast Guard leadership signing off on this: You are trading your honor for political favor. By bowing to an administration that flirts with neo-Nazis, you are destroying the integrity of the service. If you can't define a swastika as hate, you aren’t fit to command. Period.
U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify swastikas, nooses as hate symbols
The military service, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, has drafted a new policy that classifies such items “potentially divisive.”

Threats against lawmakers are not speech; they are coercion designed to freeze the functioning of government. If Congress can’t advise the military without fear of execution, then checks and balances are dead. The House and Senate must formally censure this attack. Call your representative now.
November 20, 2025 at 5:00 PM
When a President calls for the death of lawmakers protecting the oath military members take to the Constitution (NOT the President), you are watching a full-blown Constitutional Crisis. This is the ultimate test of our democracy. We cannot look away.

We upended global trade, alienated our allies, and spiked consumer prices to the highest levels in years... all to reduce the trade deficit by a whopping 2%? This isn't a strategy; it's a sales tax on the American middle class masquerading as foreign policy.

Trump re-pardons a Jan. 6 defendant to erase unrelated gun conviction
