What are we becoming?!
This note really spells out in unsparing detail just how extreme the policy being proposed is. For example, an elderly, legally settled resident of the UK who had lived and worked here for decades and is now drawing a state pension would be deported. BNP-level stuff.
Hadn’t, in truth, really absorbed the scale of what the Conservatives are proposing on ILR and immigration more broadly until this week’s Sunday Times interviews. Some thoughts on that in today’s note:

If you want to know what actual racism looks like, what conflating a whole ethnicity and culture with the actions of a foreign government look like, then look no further than Starmer using the horrific event in Manchester to attack the pro-Palestine marches. The absolute shame.
