Thank you Louise! More of this defiance and solidarity in 2026 please…

On 30th August 2025, Milton Keynes resident Louise explained why she was standing in solidarity with people seeking asylum

As 2025 draws to a close, we seek inspiration from the protests around the country in response to the Supreme Court ruling on 16 April 2025 which dealt a blow to the rights & dignity of trans people.

Thousands upon thousands of people gathered to say: we'll always stand with trans people.

1,157 people have just been announced as receiving honours in the New Year Honours list.

Here’s why Benjamin Zephaniah turned down his OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 2003.

On 28th June this year, thousands upon thousands of people came together to defy Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán passing legislation to ban Pride and other protests supporting equal rights of LGBTI people.

It was the largest march in Budapest Pride’s history.

On 5th July this year, Palestine Action was proscribed after a vote in Parliament invoking the Terrorism Act 2000.

Since then, police have made over 2,700 arrests for peacefully protesting. These arrests are unlawful.

Amnesty UK has intervened in the Judicial Review in the courts.

Palestinian journalists, like Wael Al-Dahdouh, put their lives on the line to record & report Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Over 260 media professionals have been killed in occupied Gaza since Oct 2023.

The targeting of journalists is a war crime, and each death must be investigated as such.

The arrest of Greta Thunberg for peacefully opposing genocide and supporting those on hunger strike is wrongful and disturbing.

This is yet another shocking example of the UK’s broad terrorism laws being used to target those exercising their right to freedom of expression and assembly rights.

The Ghost of Christmas Future has a message for Keir Starmer.

Alexei Sayle brings you his alternative Christmas message from the streets where Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol.

Paul Thompson was murdered and British state collusion is suspected.

The British state, like in other cases, is closing ranks against a grieving family seeking answers.

We stand with them in the fight for truth and justice.

At least 20,179 children have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, according to the UN's latest reports.

Children should be playing, learning & laughing - not part of a casualty list.

They've been forced to grow up in unrelenting violence & suffering during Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.
December 18, 2025 at 1:16 PM
It is shocking that people have been pushed to take such serious action just to be heard.

These events did not happen by accident. They are the result of the government misusing anti-terror laws.

61% of UK adults believe it should no longer be a crime for two or more sex workers to work together.

And 53% of us agree that consensual sex work should be fully decriminalised.

Sex work exists because poverty exists.

Sex work must be decriminalised NOW.

Jimmy Lai's conviction is a blow to press freedom everywhere.

In Hong Kong, the role of journalism in holding power to account is now treated as a crime.

Jimmy Lai is a prisoner of conscience.

The fight doesn't end here. We will not rest until justice prevails. ✊

Human rights were built for hard times, not rewrites when it suits the Government.

Pushing to water down the European Convention on Human Rights on International Human Rights Day is a moral retreat, not a solution.

Starmer is lobbying Europe to join him in watering down the ECHR. This illiberalism will harm us all | Steve Valdez-Symonds
The prime minister and his counterpart in Denmark want a concerted effort to weaken human rights across Europe. This isn’t pragmatism – it’s cruelty, says Steve Valdez-Symonds, refugee and migrant rig...

“Of course it f**cking is.”

This is Josh Widdicombe’s powerful response to those complaining about the Government scrapping the “two child limit” and helping bring an estimated 450,000 children out of poverty.

Facial recognition technology = mass human rights violations.

Again and again, this technology has been proven to be discriminatory against racialised communities.

Make no mistake: this is a decision to further entrench racism within policing.

This isn't a drama. It's a warning.

The new BBC drama, Prisoner 951, tells the story of Richard and Nazanin’s fight for justice.

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and Anoosheh Ashoori were unjustly imprisoned in Iran, and Amnesty UK campaigned for their release.

🚨BREAKING: Dozens more people arrested for peaceful protest in Manchester.

The protesters in Manchester were not inciting violence and it is absurd to be treating them as terrorists.

These arrests are a violation of our rights to freedom of expression and assembly.

Twenty-two years ago today Section 28 was repealed.

But we're seeing history repeat itself as some in the media and in politics spread bigotry and misinformation about trans people.

The European Convention on Human Rights protects every single one of us in the UK.

Some politicians want to tear up these protections to distract us from the real problems affecting our daily lives.
