I'm lucky in that while I was once down to literally only 3 safe foods (white rice, chicken, kale)--which took me 3 weeks and 15 lost lbs subsisting on multivitamins and broth to even figure out--I'm now up to "just" a strict low histamine diet.

But this is why we tell you to protect yourself--
So I try not to give too many gory details about life with long covid, but I also think it’s important to give a clear picture of what can happen to anyone.

Over the last yearish, I’ve become allergic to more than 70 foods. Today I lost soy. I’m not how long I can keep eating at all.

And stating the obvious, none of this will improve until aged and disability care, hospital care and community health care is all funded and managed as an integrated whole rather than across layers of govt. It is all connected. The pandemic highlighted this, and no lessons were learned - again.

Dumping NDIS participants in Emergency Departments is becoming increasingly common. But they don’t get admitted to the hospital as there is often no acute issue.

So they stay in ED for days whilst social workers desperately look for alternatives. Appalling care and another stressor EDs done need.

It's fascinating how in a policy expert culture dominated by economism - everything is about efficient taxes, behavioural distortions and deadweight losses - we have a huge effective tax on something as profound to society as relationship formation and exit and the wonk class has no interest in it

Such absolute dominance of familism is almost unique - most countries have some individual-level unemployment protection.

None of the Australian welfare technocratic class seem to be interested in the issue. Brush it off as secondary.
