I spent my first year using the mobile version without the Apple Pencil (just generic stylus or finger) and still made cool stuff.
Though very thankful to have upgraded in size now, and have the pencil for pressure control.

I do use procreate! Do you have an iPad?
I had zero clue when I started too.
My advice is to start super simple, and just play with the different brushes. Get a feel for them & experiment.
While there are lots of different settings/tool you can use, you don’t need them to start.
