In a new phase 3 trial, people randomly assigned to receive a flu shot made with modified mRNA were 34.5% less likely to be diagnosed with an influenza-like illness than people given a standard flu shot made with inactivated virus.

We need to stop the anti-science attacks against mRNA vaccines!

Creating a caricature of your critics in order to dodge responsibility for the negative consequences of your votes is the real immaturity here. If you don't want to be held accountable for the way your votes affect Toronto, maybe councillor isn't the right job for you.

This is as close as I want to get to the trashful profile in the Times. This take is true, not only supported by how many of them have shamefully acquiesced to Trump this past year, but also by who is corruptly profiting in plain sight from it. Much shame to go around.
the story is about how the American elite is rotten to its very marrow, to the extent that half of it was plotting and scheming about how to use Trump to advance their own venal interests before he even won

you should quit social media if you can.
if you can't, you should use apps that give you and old-school reverse chronological feed of posts from people you follow. yes, like bluesky.

You should quit social media for good
Platforms optimized for engagement warp our politics, erode attention, and harm our wellbeing. Here’s how I minimize time on the (anti‑)social web.

Great piece by Zadie Smith. When the right talks about classics or "Western" culture, these works are only important to the extent that it demonstrates their superiority, they have no interest in art in and of itself beyond that www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Prosecution rests, defence may rest too? All this loafing around won't bring us to a conclusion
Day 3 of the “no more than 2” day trial of Sandwich Guy. The prosecution intends to rest; the defense hasn’t decided yet. Dispute over jury instructions continues, a few morsels (sorry) to follow.

I absolutely applaud this, bravo!!
Started a thread in the other place and bringing it over here - I really think we should be more vocal about the opportunities that lay at the intersection of these two options!

So I'm starting a live thread of new roles as I become aware of them - feel free to add / extend / share :
Life situations are bleak right now for a lot of people. In tech, the "Venn Diagram" of (1) positive work and (2) making enough money to support your family is increasingly non-overlapping. We all do what we can.

This is a step back after public outcry, which this government has done before: they're singularly attuned to polling.

Retreat from disastrously bad policy isn't the same as a step towards better policy. I have no hope this is a first step to better housing policy. Not gonna happen with this gov
Happy to see the Ontario Government reverse track on this.

Now let's get real solutions to the housing crisis
