Any advice Tom has on making indie games is worth listening to, but I really want to highlight his thoughts on price point - it's well explained.
I do think that the movement to get indies to charge more mostly just hurt new indies - with fewer players, fewer/worse reviews, and lower sales.

Just so this is clear:
If you're using GenAI of any kind, you're not "trained on data we own". The thing that makes GenAI GenAI is the large training model. If you're "trained on data we own" then you're just doing normal ProcGen. Same stuff as was in Rogue 40 years ago. That's not GenAI.

Just so this is clear:

This is the piece I've been waiting to publish :) The Kuei-jin has always been a weird, orientalist mess, but I find the concept of this clan so fascinating. Paradox is essentially pretending they don't exist anymore, so fans are writing books to redo the Kuei-jin - and the TTRPG system behind them

Basically, yeah, this is true. Same thing where if you pay a musician $10 on cashapp and then pirate their entire discography, you're still paying them more than Spotify would for the same amount of music.
Some streamer talked ages ago about giving 5$ directly to the stream would be more actual money then having every youtube video he's made just running on repeat all year would give him.
