Surprise! I'm stoked to share that I'm writing this book. It's a dream to learn more about the game's development history from @wrongorgan.bsky.social themselves!
A bit late but check out my GOTY for last year (time flies!) in this piece! (Hint it's a game that lets me roleplay as a big manchild baby)
FOR THOSE ON THE NICE LIST: FUNLAND NO 06 IS UNWRAPPED

Why @ethanredd.bsky.social spent Christmas busy as an elf! @ricesnot.bsky.social starts a holiday tradition for the shitpost era! @molleindustria.org vs tomorrow's Scrooge!

ok my favorite things I wrote from 2025, before we hit the new year and I lose all motivation 👁️👃👁️

Last day of the year so here's my reflection: 2025 is the year of the killjoy, where some of us yell about free Palestine and give up certain opportunities and luxuries in order not to support brands and papers that are invested in destroying Palestine. Free Palestine, and happy (???) 2026

I feel like I mainly wrote very sanitized stories this year and I received this fanmail today?

For one of my last pieces of the year, I wrote about @adamgryu.bsky.social 's Untitled Paper RPG for Stop Caring, and the value of unfinished games (I'm such a huge fan of the game)
For the last contributor piece of the year, it is an honor and pleasure to welcome @crapstacular.bsky.social to the site

Khee Hoon Chan wrote about Untitled Paper RPG and what we can learn from unfinished games.

It is a laser-focused piece that was a joy to read and edit.
Pay Attention to Incomplete Games
Untitled Paper RPG shows us that the allure of unfinished games lie in the tantalizing promise of what they could have been.

Clair Obscur debacle aside, the other award that was retracted is also newsworthy: the physical release of Chanty, a game by Gortyn Code, was done by Modretro, the company founded by Palmer Luckey, a man passionate about restoring Western civilization
The IGAs Nomination Committee is officially retracting Debut Game and Game of the Year, awarding both categories to new recipients. Additionally, we are retracting one of the Indie Vanguard recipients.

Full details can be found in our FAQ under Game Eligibility: www.indiegameawards.gg/faq

Retro Dodo also has an exclusive interview with radical zionist and white supremacist Palmer Luckey! What an exclusive!

4,000 words on the stage I haven't been able to stop playing for the last six years. Early dev screenshots, talk of tech challenges, five demo tracks embedded so you can hear the song's evolution. All the good stuff.

i think that if you are a member of the games media disgusted by this (and you should be) you have to really, genuinely ask yourself what the difference is between this and saying "Microsoft is on the BDS list but [game] is good in XYZ ways"
I hate it here

There are a few unfinished games in that 50 indie game recommendation thread I did earlier. Who among us hasn't played a demo of a game over and over, like it was the main release? This is a nice piece detailing the process of game dev.

This is hilarious, please subscribe to Rascal for more potential thirsty posting by Caelyn
Two people have become paying subscribers to Rascal specifically to read this article. I love you, but I also have concerns.
Caelyn finds herself enamoured with the teaser for WARLOCK, the upcoming D&D video game recently announced at The Game Awards.

Don't worry, she's disappointed in herself too.

If that's you, DM or email me! Details in bio.

of all that's been said about Santa Ragione's HORSES, we haven't talked much about the people who made the game and all the human processes that brought it together.

so i spoke with the developers on what went into making the game: their influences, their aspirations, and more.
At the very edge of gaming's most commercially-charged evening, we bring you @midfalutin.bsky.social's interview with the embattled developers of Horses, a game conceived and executed as a corrective to the very nature of modern gaming.

I've sunk 90 hours in Clair Obscur and I'll do so for another 90 hours more
the clair obscur dlc should brutally punish you for downloading it and coming back to the game again if you play it after already beating it and seeing an ending. i hope it's totally dismal. how dare you come BACK TO THE CANVAS AFTER ALL OF THAT.

It's so cool to hand @crapstacular.bsky.social an idea, a fancy, a whim, and then they come back with a full-ass interview and smart copy.

Anyway, I think this is an interesting trend within the RPG designer ecosystem. Transparency helps everyone!
Tabletop designers such as @byodinsbeardrpg.com are making a habit out of post-convention transparency through post-mortem reports. Their hope is to inspire others and turn event tabling into a science.
The trials and tribulations of tabling at conventions
Colin Le Sueur discusses his post-mortems and why he writes them.

The Horses thing is making me feel crazy in a very different way than other discourse. Games are treated very differently from film mainly because the very people who play games still see the medium as a T O Y
