Thanks for wrapping us up in a big indie media hug, @rascal.news! We had so much fun chatting with Chase and Caelynn from Rascal for 60 minutes and not a second more
PODCAST: The excellent co-owners of @mothership.blog joined us to discuss their new home for writing about video games through the lenses of gender and identity. We convince them to stick around for our usual brand of hijinks, too.

Listen, then go subscribe: www.mothership.blog/board-the-mo...

Companies gutting gaming verticals, and assigning a single writer or possibly restarting them again years later, is wild, esp when most other entertainment verticals are still intact.

I chatted with @ludicpen.bsky.social on making games in Venezuela amidst the conflict, and their long term plans. More than ever, creating art - creating anything - is a form of resistance these days.
"Solidarity and creativity can be powerful forces, especially when the world around you feels uncertain and everything else is literally crumbling. Create, create, create; build amidst the crumbling."

Struck by how Chaoyang Trap's 2022 piece on jubensha remains one of the best-written takes on the phenomenon even today.

Not a week goes by without me missing that amazing newsletter on Chinese pop culture. RIP my sweet princes!! 😭😭😭

People are calling this post a godtier opener for 2026 because it captures the undeniable tension in the patriarchal institution of marriage in China. The post has got over 1.3M likes within a day, and has been censored and uncensored for over 5 times. As of now OP’s account has also been banned.
Hahahah so this post on Xiaohongshu has gone viral. Describing this guy and saying "What would I need to bring to the table for him to marry into my family?", waited for all the mens' opinions to build up and then revealed that the post was about herself and thanked them all for the compliments 😂

I reached out to more than three dozen X advertisers, xAI investors, politicians, and government agencies about the growing library of sexualized deepfakes generated with Grok—now including Renee Good. I only heard back from four, with three declining to comment.

Why isn't there a bigger Grok boycott?

This is a fun piece I did with @chasecarter.bsky.social and @caelyn.bsky.social - we talked about the two new videogames (!!!) Warlock and Exodus, and whether WoTC's plans to make a shit ton of $$$$$ via videogames are a short-sighted endeavor, inspired by the blinding success of Baldur's Gate 3
In our latest letter article, three Rascals consider what WARLOCK and Exodus can tell us about Wizards of the Coast's digital ambitions.

A year ago I attended a gamified version of that terrible day for @rascal.news. Its terrifying to see how much has changed and how much hasn't.

This is the piece I've been waiting to publish :) The Kuei-jin has always been a weird, orientalist mess, but I find the concept of this clan so fascinating. Paradox is essentially pretending they don't exist anymore, so fans are writing books to redo the Kuei-jin - and the TTRPG system behind them
Fan work is transforming the Kuei-jin, Vampire: The Masquerade's Anglocentric attempt at an East Asian clan, into something representative and celebratory.
Asian vampires in Vampire: the Masquerade have been getting an unofficial facelift
Fans are fixing the stereotypes of this clan through their own books.
