and not for nothing, but i know several young adults who've had hip replacements - it's not just the elderly getting them (or getting some)
This feels like peak infantilisation of the elderly.

What exactly is ‘disgraceful’ about giving the elderly/infirm practical advice about how to be physically intimate in a safe way? They aren’t children. Their innocent eyes don’t need to be protected. Plus it’s medical guidance not a jazz mag

I just want to reiterate, if you are using the front page of national newspapers to say how the media are biased against you, the standing assumption is that you are acting in bad faith. Remarkably, being silent is a key component of being silenced.

A bit telling that The News Agents' chat where Maitlis boasts about her part in eradicating trans youth healthcare in the UK did not feature fellow presenter Lewis Goodall.

Meanwhile he was writing this:

the entirety of the british press talked themselves into believing this woman is trans based almost entirely on JK Rowling's judgement of the athlete's appearance.
Nothing illustrates the arseholery of the IOC and the British Press more than the use of the image of a not-Trans woman to illustrate a story about trans women being banned (because there are no current trans women competing at this level)

To remind you, Paul Givan unilaterally decided to order schools in NI to discriminate against trans kids because he couldn't be bothered waiting for the Equality Commission. Then he went on a trip to Israel.
The Assembly voted no confidence in Education Minister Paul Givan, yet he stays in post. Why? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

What bothers me is that impartiality and balance are two different and incompatible things. Impartiality means that you don't intervene to put your thumb on the scales. Balance necessarily requires that you intervene to artificially make every issue look like a 50/50.

Belfast needs an overdose prevention centre.

Lives are needlessly being lost. We need leadership from Stormont, especially the Health & Justice Ministers.

Are they worried by how some voters will feel about the prospect of an overdose prevention centre, 20 months out from an election?

This hateful anti-migrant rhetoric from Labour’s @miketapp.bsky.social isn’t a one-off - it’s just more proof the party’s now planted firmly on the right-wing of British politics

Mimicking Trump, Musk, and Farage won’t win back former members - it just panders to racists who’ll vote Reform anyway

This is how transphobia's right wing fuckery blew open basic respect in the UK, there is absolutely no reason to expect now that being "women critical" is not also a protected belief, if you truly do not believe that women should just be reproductive slaves for cis men.

This will be used to abuse.

The BBC *chooses* not to use the language Trans women use for themselves

Instead, it peddles in terms coined and spread by anti-Trans+ activists - language it’s under no legal obligation to use

This isn't neutrality

These are editorial decisions made by anti-Trans+ activists inside a failing BBC
It is utterly insane to claim that BBC News has a “pro-trans bias”, when they are currently publishing articles in which they describe trans women as “a biological male who identifies as a woman”. That isn’t them quoting anyone, that is them choosing to use the language of gender critical bigots.

UK: GPEW and SGP (GREENS-G/EFA) have reached 18% in today's Find Out Now poll. That is the highest that the two parties have ever polled in national parliament polling since being founded in 1990.

The same poll shows governing centre-left Labour (LAB-S&D) falling to fourth place with 15%.
