We're in Newcastle with PMUK's Ian Gregg - former chairman of Greggs.
Speaking in a personal capacity, he said: "We hope the Chancellor uses this Budget to raise taxes on the wealthiest people first - who can most afford it - instead of ordinary people who can’t."

As Clinical Psychologists we have to (thankfully) take part in regular supervision - a confidential space to learn, think & reflect with another psychologist. Good supervision both nourishes and challenges.

Surely we’d have a better politics if politicians had a space like that?

Good to join St Peter’s Basin residents yesterday for training on using the new emergency throw lines along the Tyne.

Big thanks to Tommy from Tyne & Wear Fire & Rescue for showing us the ropes (literally!). These new lines replace the old life rings, and they work better in real emergencies.

If this is true - this should have happened a long time ago.

The Green Party alongside campaigners have been calling for this - and it's good to see maybe they've finally listened.

NEW: Rachel Reeves signals she intends to remove the two-child cap *in full*

"I don't think a child should be penalised because they're in a bigger family through no fault of their own," she tells BBC.

Predictive text in emails trying to get me to ask people to ring me on my cell, rather than my mobile.

I’m having none of it, and neither should you.

#RemembranceSunday has personal meaning to us all.

It is an honour as a Councillor to join service men and women at the remembrance parade at Old Eldon Square.

I think of family, conflicts around the world and the service that so many have given. Together for peace and justice.

I was proud to join all councillors cross-party on Wednesday supporting the motion to strengthen Newcastle City Council’s commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant.

#RemembranceSunday is a day when we hold up a mirror to ourselves as a society. To remember. For solidarity. For peace.

As the sun rises over Byker, we’re looking forward to tonight’s winter lights “switch on” over at Hadrian Square and Shields Road. The second year running.

Thanks to everyone at Newcastle City Council & Lizzie West, creative director, for making this happen! Get along for 5.30 ❄️

Antisocial firework use has been harming our communities across Newcastle.

Yesterday, @nclgreenparty.bsky.social successfully brought a motion to council for stronger local action and national legislation, in line with Green policy. Read more here 👇

If Reform UK were listening, they’d have known how austerity and attempts to cut back on the state only leads to more costs and expense.

Though with more and more austerity architect Conservatives swelling their ranks, maybe that was the plan 🤷‍♂️

18 months ago when I rocked up for my debut as a @greenparty.org.uk councillor on #BBCPoliticsNorth, I’d never have thought that by now we’d have @zackpolanski.bsky.social being asked by @bbcrichardmoss.bsky.social about Greens possibly running Newcastle Council in May…. but that just happened! 👀

Nearly every resident I spoke to today was glad that @nclgreenparty.bsky.social were out, helping to pick up local concerns and picking up litter.

There were a few friendly disagreements, but nothing like some of the vitriol you get on Twitter/X.

Real life isn’t X.

Now to address the casework!

🎉 Happy 30th to @mariecurieuk.bsky.social Newcastle!

Great to be back at the hospice where I worked as a Psychologist. Such inspiring colleagues.

Proud too this month to help pass a Newcastle City Council motion supporting those dying in poverty and to join Marie Curie’s councillor network. 🌼

Yes! @zackpolanski.bsky.social often talks about how many future Green MPs are out there working hard in their communities, not in @greenparty.org.uk yet.

I know a few in Newcastle who have only just joined, who would make excellent MPs.

Getting involved in politics for values not a career.
"I am talking to Labour MPs about defections, yes."

Green leader @zackpolanski.bsky.social says he’s in talks with Labour MPs - but insists the Greens don’t need defections after a membership surge.

If we had a donation for every time someone said ‘there’s only the Greens or Reform worth voting for’, we’d have the millions that Reform’s backers pour in to keep politics for themselves.

Greens step up in our communities, build collective action and get sh*t done.

Join us.

Great to hear the toon getting shout outs on the radio.

All eyes on Sam Fender to bring home the prize too!
