And I think a world where everyone suddenly gains access to All Sexy Things at once who have never been exposed to sex or had any chance to explore what they might be into is also a very stupid idea.

Hot take, but I don’t actually think it’s safe to prevent teenagers from accessing porn if they want porn. I think a bunch of teenagers with no private, solo outlet for their sex hormones is a bad idea.

The conservative former Dem member of congress who led the Dem's House election effort in 2020 when we lost 13 seats has some new funder-friendly ideas about how to win.
Ezra Klein's Abundance movement is getting some backup: A new political group is urging Democrats to embrace "pro-growth," deregulatory policies with an eye toward 2028, according to plans first shared with Axios.
Exclusive: Centrist Dems strike back with new group
It's the latest effort by moderate Democrats to shape national politics and expand their influence.

I'm hardly the first person to note this, but it's enormously instructive that our President and his followers saw the message "THE ONLY THING MORE POWERFUL THAN HATE IS LOVE" and understood it, correctly, as an attack on them
What a moment.

I’ve said it before, but I don’t feel threatened by AI. My writing shits all over anything “generated” by some useless hack, and I only write for clients who value good work over cheap anti-work.

“You’ll get left behind!” Bitch, I left AI in the dust before it was even a thing.

I want all writers to be into writing as much like themselves as possible. I hate to see someone say writing's so good they wish they'd written it. You couldn't have, you're you, & they're them. That's the spirit of plagiarism behind AI. Believe in your capacity to create beauty unique to you.

To be very clear, that lady in the NYT article is not making any money with her hundreds of AI slop books.

She makes money by *convincing people* she makes money that way and getting them to pay her to teach them how to do it.

It's an evolved MLM, and the NYT is helping market it.

“Black” is being flagged as a potentially prohibited word violating anti-DEI law at multiple Florida Universities. My interview this week with @grundrza.bsky.social documents his event being flagged because the flyer said “Black.”

Racial authoritarianism is here, it’s just unequally distributed.

Hideous licensing agreement from Red Ogre Review, but what really jumps out at me is the moral rights waiver
Red Ogre (@ogre.red) gets rights to your work upon *submission*.

And those rights are ridiculous. They can change your work, not credit you, use your work for advertising, or put it in an anthology.

Don't submit to this one, folks.

“Don’t talk to me about my own morality,” DeLauro shot back.

“Don’t tell your constituents what they can and can’t talk to you about,” replied Rev. Nathan Empsall. “What you are voting for is not moral.”
