Me: “Hannah, if a man named Isaac Chotiner ever reaches out to you—“

Hannah: “I know, you told me.“
I would say this if I did not have a 14-year-old daughter but as it happens, I do, and I do not understand at all how Megyn Kelly can look at her young teen and say the things she has.

I admit to still being fond of the idea of a pope who has at some point taken in a matinee at the Music Box.
Some inspiring words on cinema in the streaming era from the Pope.

Yes, THAT Pope.

if my 14-year-old wanted to look to Canada or UK for college, I would encourage and follow her FWIW. I know they're not perfect, but they're not run by a death cult of pedophiles.
"In 2025, 40% of women aged 15 to 44 say they would move abroad permanently if they had the opportunity. The current figure is four times higher than the 10% who shared this desire in 2014, when it was generally in line with other age and gender groups."
Record Numbers of Younger Women Want to Leave the U.S.
The percentage of younger women in the U.S. who express a desire to migrate permanently has surged in the past decade.

i have caught up with Bond discourse and would like to remind everyone that Octopussy, one of the five greatest movies ever made, opens with Roger Moore pretending to be Cuban, flying a tiny plane out of a fake horse's behind.

I work in corporate America, my current employer is good to us. I would like to move toward consulting—it’s what many colleagues have done and I’d like to bet on myself. My husband is FT freelance, so this hasn’t been an option. Now it never will be. Thanks Democrats.

Why has the government been closed at all if Senate Dems cave now? Didn't they say that they could not go along with throwing millions of people off health care?

What's materially changed? A *promise* is not action. ALSO fascists lie and I've been told by some Senate Dems that the GOP is fascist.

Just left a VM for @duckworth.senate.gov but the one I worry about caving (@durbin.senate.gov) is not accepting voicemails.

Please @democrats.org : don’t do this.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

The Target I live near is allowing ICE to stage in its parking lot. They are sacrificing all brand loyalty for …???
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

so my town has been hosting an emergency food drive for snap recipients. the town, high school clubs, the Y, the churches (Episcopal, Presbyterians, Lutherans, Baptists, Unitarians, and the Catholics) & the synagogue, are involved.

You know who isn't participating? the fucking evangelicals.

i think the thing that makes me angriest while we deal with ICE's siege on Chicagoland is that the paper of record is giving actual airtime to this sort of nonsense.

PS: Blowhards who don't think I deserve what I've earned are what really ruined the workplace.

I hope the centrists learned a hard lesson last night. No more reaching across the aisle to people who have been spitting in our faces for decades. Run young people, run socialists, run on actionable ideas that seek to make our lives better.

I live near this Target. In 2024, I bought groceries and shopped there probably weekly. When they killed DEI, I cut back to just my prescriptions. I won’t be spending a cent there now. I hope you won’t either.
A caravan of Border Patrol and ICE agents, including a van with abducted individuals, drove out of the Target on Peterson Ave across from Rosehill Cemetery around 11:30 this morning, Nov 3. They came from the service vehicle loading dock, where it seemed Target allowed them to remain for some time
