and even that has its own issues if you Really Wanna Be Pedantic.

here’s the bottom line—we actually have bigger things to worry about than etymological debates. we just do.

and trust me when i say those who use one or the other isn’t actually indicative of who has good politics 😭

I appreciate the energy behind the No Kings protest—it’s a net positive. But it feels a lot like the Women’s March, channeling and containing people’s activism instead of expanding it. What comes after? Does No Kings offer a path forward, or just a release valve that drains our energy?

Every day I have a moment where I go "I need to fuck or I'll die" and I open bluesky to post about it for some reason, see some story about like, ICE agents firebombing an elementary school or something, and then I'm like "actually skip the fuck, I'll go ahead and just die"

Many of us with chronic illness are stuck in survival mode.

It’s a vicious cycle that can make you sicker, but then the sicker you get the harder it is to get out of survival mode.

It’s one of the reasons we must learn to pace, to rest and to unplug.

It’s ok to take breaks. Rest is resistance!
Nobody talks about how exhausting it is to be stuck in survival mode.

Your body keeps pumping out stress hormones like you’re in crisis 24/7.

Over time, this can lead to chronic fatigue, digestive & immune issues, brain fog, & much more.

That’s what constant survival mode can look like.

If you’ve got a chronic illness and you’re struggling right now…
Be gentle with yourself.

The “October Slide” is real and can have devastating effects on your baseline.

Remember it’s ok to rest. To take breaks. To prioritize self care.

There’s no prize for playing through the pain.

Yes, for trans men like me, our HRT is scheduled and therefore legally under even greater threat, to note.

I wish some (cis) editor would let me write about this. I have tried to sell this pitch for ... years.
better odds of getting the healthcare we need here. for now. HRT (for women at least) is available in many countries, but the US has better and more surgeons and less gatekeeping than almost anywhere else.

that might look very different in a year

For anyone having a bad night tonight, or feeling like they don’t “deserve” an accommodation they need…. You do deserve it.

Don’t feel guilty.

Living with chronic illness is hard and we should feel empowered to do whatever we need to in order to make life a bit easier.

I've been guilty of feeling this way but honestly, I don't think I'm ever gonna be fully "done" healing & I think we need to be kinder to ourselves & admit that we do deserve romance & intimacy even if we're struggling. You gotta let people make that decision for themselves instead of for them 💜

The main systems most of us engage with are designed to drain us and keep us complacent. They're extractive, parasitic.

It's extremely important to understand these systems and either refuse them or work to counter them.

If you're digging in your heels in your community; if you're engaged in a long term project that might take years to complete; if you're writing a book - we need your work too.

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

To all the people canceling their Disney+ subscriptions, please think about taking that money and supporting some SWers and artist. Like $15 can be spread to multiple artists which honestly goes a long way for small creators.

Relax your brow.

Go get a drink of water.

See if you've taken your meds

Eat something.

Doesn't matter what you look like right now, i think you look amazing.

Because you do.

You're a wonderful person.

And have this. 🫂🖤 you did great today. You made it through

Like yeah, trans folks need community and we all need to stay informed, but this app can meet maybe one-fifth of that need for you. You need to find those things somewhere else too, preferably somewhere that people who rely on fear to push substack subscriptions cannot reach you.
