Wise words from WEB DuBois to gird us today: "It would be shame and cowardice to surrender this glorious land and its opportunities for civilization and humanity to the thugs and lynchers, the mobs and profiteers, the monopolists & gamblers who today choke its soul and steal its resources."

If you are in Terminal E - International - at Hartsfield-Jackson right now, look for a 21-year-old woman who is eight months pregnant and in a state of medical distress. She is being deported by ICE right now, a human rights attorney said, today pleading for emergency assistance for his client.

The NYTimes never goes to the rural South in the Black Belt, or to reservations, even though these rural areas actually lack political or economic power. Gee I wonder why....
NYTimes has truly outdone itself with this latest in its "ask white guys in diner" genre. Thank goodness we get a perspective on what's happening in Minneapolis from people in **Nisswa** who probably mean Brainerd when they say they "prefer not to go the city anymore" www.nytimes.com/2026/01/15/u...

Gift link to FBI-targeted Post reporter Hannah Natanson's sweeping look at how federal workers have been targeted by Trump. wapo.st/49BQBrh
I am The Post’s ‘federal government whisperer.’ It’s been brutal.
One reporter’s effort to show how Trump was transforming government brought her 1,168 new sources — and nearly broke her.

This isn’t new and wouldn’t even sound extreme to many people. People you probably know if you live in the South. Building this apparatus has taken conservative evangelicals decades.
Much more on this here!

Hi folks, I'm seeing a lot of "Eyes on Minneapolis" & "We support Minnesota" sentiment. Here's a tangible way you can help:

Trump just suspended federal funding for SNAP benefits to Minnesota. Second Harvest Heartland is an MN-based hunger-relief org.

Please donate what you can.

As someone who grew up very conservative, I’m glad people didn’t immediately shut me down every time I “just noticed” something.
There’s this kind of holier-than-thou tendency to dismiss people’s observations of the world coming apart at the seams by referencing past evils and derisively sneering, “Where have you been?/You’re just now noticing this?” that I think is almost never constructive or helpful.

🧵In my expert opinion as a researcher of vehicle ramming attacks, what has been publicly described in the video evidence does not support the claim that Renee Nicole Good was attempting a deliberate ramming attack when she was shot in Minneapolis on January 7, 2026. 1/7

No better ending to Angel than running straight into battle.
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc
