So much wrong in such a short story:

1. Pedestrian crash makes it sound like 2 people walked into each other.

2. Driverless BMW?

3. It shouldn't matter if they were in a crosswalk

Two pages apart in the @thestar.com : 9 year old killed by driver of SUV jumping curb, and Ontario bans speed cameras. Yes they are related, because Doug Ford inculcates a culture that the world is made for drivers, but kids and cyclists? Too bad.

Listening to CBC re: Granville Island & its desire to revitalize. (problem: too many cars)
Simply copy North Van's Lonsdale Quay: car-free, plenty of free activities for kiddies, market, food, shopping, excellent transit connections, music. It's a simple formula.

Really great interview, should be watched. The known benefits for bike lanes on main streets are being espoused by those retailers who work on those streets. Excellent.
WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you HAVE TO WATCH this news story. You actually can’t make this up. Ford claims without evidence that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data.

Safe bike-lanes mean business.

A typical European car is parked 92% of the time. It spends 1/5th of its driving time looking for parking. Its 5 seats only move 1.5 people. 86% of its fuel never reaches the wheels, and most of the energy that does, moves the car, not the people.

Sound efficient?
