The "jokes" and general callousness in response to the Epst*in emails just affirms my belief that the gulf between survivors of sexual violence and those who aren't / or otherwise do not recognize their experiences as violent is WIDE.

The only Legitimate Concerns about asylum seekers are concerns for their well being and safety. For a rich country like ours to incessantly whine about these people as if we are their victims is perhaps the single most pathetic spectacle in British politics over the past quarter century.
No, I'd say it's racists and those pandering to them.

As an academic, I am acutely aware that all deadlines are fictional, and that's how I run my classroom.
I've often asked teachers who insist that timeliness is a grading issue to make a case for it. The answer usually invokes the "real world," by which they usually mean the "work world." And that's just wrong. People at all kinds of jobs miss deadlines all the time.

Between 1000 and 300 BCE, potters in Cyprus produced pottery and figures for daily use, feasting, ritual, and as gifts for the dead and the gods.

This wine jug, or oinochoe, dates to about 750-600 BCE and has been decorated with an ibis bird picking at a lotus flower.
